cab, I agree to a certain point. I`d rather be around more curtius, friendly people and people who will just take the time to stop and chat with others. I also don`t want to be in a place were I have to worry about major crime, home envasions, etc. I think if most people had it their way, they`d be in a mostly crime free inviroment.

I am actually shocked when I run into somebody I would actually deem rude in OC. Then I figure that person must be from the East coast.

Not that long - really only since the 70s when the rest of the country realized how cool it would be to live near the beach.

I sill like OC a great deal and live there on and off for work, but the magic wears off after a while and then the charm begins to fade, palm trees are no longer cool and exotic, they look like telephone poles and you begin to miss real trees, rivers with water, fresh air, sitting in a car that is actually moving, etc. Several of our friends moved to OC from the midwest and all of them eventually moved back. Another handful of our friends who grew up in OC moved to the midwest (mostly looking for a better place for raising a family). Give her another 8 years and see where she is.

Not saying that OC is terrible. There are a lot of things that we like better about each place, but 7 years is not enough to make an evaluation. OC is a nice place and has its benefits, but it is not nirvana, in fact it is about a push when you list out benefits and problems when comapring with many other areas. California in general is having a problem wiht the middle class moving away.
None of my business, but what is the advantage of moving out to Southern California compared to, as in Florida? Actually, I've been to (and have relatives in and extensively travelled in) both states, I like both o.k., but seems like I met a lot of people from Ohio/Indiana/Michigan, as well as Missouri, etc., area out in California, moreso than I did people from said areas in Florida (seems like most of the expats there are from New York or Jersey, etc.). In scheme of things trivial, I guess, but California is a lot further away from Ohio or Michigan or Missouri than Florida is.

Of course there are rude people everywhere but this seems to be the cluture in Socal in general. When you live in a certain place for awhile, you don`t notice it as much because you become use to the culture there. By listening to some of these posters on here, just proves the point of OC rudeness.
Sometimes the nice people who live in Orange County just get tired of reading threads such as this and eventually give up.....(and there are plenty of us here......). Example where I have given up: I am from California, CA., or, as I was taught in grammar school, Calif. I am not from Cali. (To me, it sounds as if somebody is trying to spell Calexico). I do not live in The O.C. either. I live in Orange County. I have finally learned to let this go......

California is a state made up of immigrants..immigrants from different states AND countries....I was born here....many, many people weren't. Maybe if some of those immigrants 'stayed home', we'd be better off..... Look at my previous statement....it could be inserted under any state's thread, not just California's.....it's easy to get people riled up with just a few words and they will defend their states.... (I am thinking of an old bumper sticker that we used to see: Welcome to Oregon. Now go home). btw: California wouldn't be California if it didnt have immigrants...

And some of the sarcastic posts are written tongue-in-cheek.... We are not all like those ridiculous tv programs, but I gave up on telling people that, too.

You can go onto any state's thread area and you will see folks defending their home state...it's just the nature of the beast.....

You are right.......there are rude people everywhere......but there are just as many, if not more, nice ones.....
