Irvine is an awesome place to live..
All the complainers on this board are just bitter. If you make good money,
Irvine is the best quality of life anywhere in the US.
I wish they would all stop posting or drive off a cliff... Either is fine with me..

Yea and if you don't. It blows. Also you will have to make good money to get anything decent out there otherwise you are better off elsewhere.

Yeah and BTW 120k is not considered good money. If you cannot afford a 5k+ mortgage don't move here.

To the contrary
I left Manhattan Beach to come to Irvine to make big bucks. This town is boring and expensive!!! For same price, I can live on the beach in LA County.
I am moving back. I will grin and bare the commute on the 405 until I can transfer.
Irvine and the OC can suck it!!!

Manhattan Beach is old, dirty, and so overbuilt. It does not seem to be
classy in the slightest. I would never live there. Irvine is new, clean,
with every possible store, restaurant, etc. The Spectrum sets a new standard
for sure. The only time I feel the need to leave Irvine is to go to Huntington
beach for some beach time or for work.. It all depends on what you value.
If you're a yuppie type, Irvine is your destination.

Irvine is cookie cutter, 0 culture, and 100% boring as hell.
Enjoy the congestion while the Irvines plug every last piece of land full of overpriced houses and condos!

Some of the posts here just crack me up Hee hee!
Is Irvine a good place to work if you're say an engineer? Seems like lots of jobs out there, etc. That is where we're looking to work, etc.
Probably live in HB or nearby...LOL.

I lived in Irvine for two months in 2005. Lots to do, just really expensive to run a business (manufacturing) and really expensive to live.
If we won the lottery, I'd be back in a second. Well, maybe two seconds. I'd strongly consider going back to Santa Cruz county.

Irvine seems like an excellent place to work for engineers. Most of the engineers I know work and some live in Irvine.
Sidenote: My first post!
