Default Parking Ticket Question

I got a ticket when I was up in LA for not having a valid registration. I had just bought and registered the car. The temporary was taped in the window.

Does anyone know if I can mail in copies of my "proof", or do I have to go in and do this in person..? If that's the case I'll just pay the damn thing.

Same thing happened to me. Bought a brand new car last year with CLEAR dealer plates, and got a ticket 2 weeks later for outdated tags when I was at a Barnes & Nobles (there was a bakery near by, so maybe a cop was hanging out).

I simply challenged the citation by writing a short letter explaining the temporary registration on my window, and sending a photocopy. About 10 day later, I got a letter saying the citation was dismissed.
