Hello all-

Well it's time to move back to California. I just miss the beach too much after 13+ years away. (we were just there last week in Seal Beach, ahhhh)

My husband and I will both be working full time. But its a catch 22 to find a job without a place to live or an apt without a job.

So we've decided to plunk down our cash for a long term motel while we work to get job history out there.

But we don't have good credit these apartments want. Are there privately owned apartments still out there?

We are looking in Garden Grove, but will live in Buena Park, Anaheim, Cypress, Los Alamitos that area. Just not Westminster, Orange or Santa Ana. (grew up in Santa Ana in the 80s, no thanks.)

*Any one out there have contact to a privately owned duplex or whatever?

If you are responding to be negative, save it, I'm not interested in getting a beat down on here.

thanks in advance everyone.

Because a lot of people are getting kicked out of their homes down here (foreclosures, etc), there is an abundance of potential tenants with good credit, private apartment or not. I own 3 private apartments in OC, and I always have credit checks done. You might try getting into a place in a more shadier part of OC(Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Stanton, etc) where the landlord may look the other way, but you also risk placing yourself in a gang land.

You can rent someone's guesthouse from Craigslist. Some owners have a studio (some with kitchen and private entrances) built into their house and will rent it out. just search craiglist roommates/and shares for "studio" or "separate entrance", "walkway", "entrance", "guest house" etc. It's not your own apartment but some of these folks don't do credit checks...
