"A caller requested a check for graffiti on the utility box at the location. "

Only in South OC will someone call the cops for something like this.... and they respond.

This 3bed/2 bath/1,452 sq ft home located in Mission Viejo is a tad larger, but less expensive, than the Ladera Ranch home you mentioned, and it only costs $250,000:
23264 Copante 80 Mission Viejo CA - Listing of a Home for Sale - Real Estate - MLS #S647835 - Realtor.com®

You could “bank” the difference and save towards future goals (your kids’ education, retirement, a newer home, or whatever). Beer and wine fests would just be hazy memories if you are ever scrambling to put your kid through college.

I was thinking the same thing! What a waste of police time and taxpayer money. Duh, what about calling the Graffiti Hotline? Why did this even make the papers?

It's part of the police blotter section would be my guess. When I see graffiti around here, I simply go to the city website and invest the 2 minutes it takes to submit a report online. I gotta hand it to them, they jump on it fast.
