This isn't the type of neighborhood that would attract the negative concerns crowd.

I don't have many neighbors, but the ones that are fairly close all have chickens, geese, ducks, goats, and even a peacock or two (as well as dogs, cats and kids). My one and only next-door neighbor pulled out their front lawn in its entirety and planted the whole area in fruits and vegetables. They did the same to their backyard.

I love it when the geese and ducks waddle over to peck around my yard. They're characters.

Hmmmm, peacocks. Once had a neighbor whose peacock would strut around my property, rather funny. To tie together two current threads in this forum, the neighbor wasn't so funny, an NBA star who has now gone to prison. He had a drinking problem and failed to think clearly when he did so.

They really help control ants, aunts, and other pests. We love our fowl. They are funny

I planted them just like my family members did back in the 19th century when they laid out their orchards in LA and OC: In a straight line with room for growth in the best possible soil. The soil part came with the property, lucky for me. This area has some amazingly fecund earth beneath it. I feed them twice a year and irrigate them slowly to discourage surface rooting, which could prove disastrous to the trees here in the land of the mighty Santa Ana wind.

Some of the fruit (peach, plum, Concord, grapefruit, avocado) have been here for years. This is an old farmhouse.

Plant a loquat or two, they are fabulous and do very well.
