It's not for a commute or anything but just wondering... I am not sure where exactly this event will be held in LA yet... but if it's around Hollywood for example and on a Tuesday night... if I leave at 5:00 pm there's no way I could get there by 7:00 pm?

You *might* make it. I know just getting from Irvine to Huntington Beach in the afternoon is bad but now with the construction in Seal Beach/Long Beach its even worse. The 5 is always a disaster.

You are right.. realistically I won't make it. I think it takes me an hour just to get from Lake Forest to HB on the 405 so there's no way I could make it to L.A that time... Maybe if I left at 4:00 pm....

Part of it depends on where in LA you are going and what else is happening in the area. For example, if the Dodgers are playing a home game that night, the area around the stadium can be real crowded. If the Lakers are playing a home game (not bloody likely given their current state but just for the sake of explanation) trying to get anywhere near downtown would be an adventure.

I would suggest leaving at noon, going somewhere nearby for lunch and maybe do a little shopping or sight-seeing. That way when it comes time for your event you won't be all frazzled from staring at the same set of tail lights for 2 hours.

I'm sorry, I can't help it. I literally just started laughing.

It's not for an event. It's for an acting class/workshop that starts at 7:00pm on a weekday and I work from 8-5 on the same day. The class is only available on that day.

You copuld make it if you study your route and tke the correct freeway. You will be going against the heaviest traffic driving from L.A. Most important stay in the CORRECT LANE WHEN TRANSFERING FROM THE I5 TO THE HOLLYWOOD FREEWAY. Easy to get lost as you enter LA; with 4 freeways jeeting.

I do a route from buena park to west hollywood twice a week. I get on the 5north from artesia and from there to the 605 connector there is usually medium to heavy traffic. From the 605 to the 710 connector its usually pretty clear. From there , the 5 jams again up to the 10/101/5 interchange. There is a shortcut to avoid that however if you take the 710n to 60west onto 10west or 101north. My usual route is 5N, 710N, 60W, 101N, exit santa monica to weho. This usually takes me about an hour+-5 to 10minutes total when I depart at 4pm.
You could quite possibly make it in two hours if there are no accidents or sigalerts, but you would be cutting it close.

lol, this happened to me a lot before in the past when going to L.A ... You are talking about the section where you have to go ALL THE WAY in the left lane in order to merge onto the 101 right? That part scares me because I HATE driving in the left lane because I am a bit of a slow driver. I've actually missed it before and gotten lost!!!
