The Nov. 27 date is at the tail end of Thanksgiving weekend. The Friday after TGiving is one of DLand's busiest days. The park has actually closed because of overcrowding. They'll shuttle the visitors to DCA and the roads around Disneyland on that weekend are a mess. There may be stragglers extending their TGiving holiday so I'd just avoid that weekend.

The December date may actually give you the Christmas decorations. I'm not sure when they're being put up this year. If you haven't seen DLand's decorations I can assure you they are very special. The characters may also be in Christmas costumes then as well.

Changing hotels: Can't say I know anyone who has done it but if you want to give it a go, why not. The PP is across the street from the GC but there are different parking lots so you would have to move your car. The GC is a far superior hotel IMO. (I love the architecture, so I'm more than prejudiced. But the service is better at GC.) The rooms at the PP are bigger, though. The GC has a huge lobby with a fireplace and there is often a piano player. They also have a storyteller and the kids can go down, sit in front of the fireplace in their PJ's and have a hot chocolate while they listen to a story. (Mom and Dad can have a glass of wine.)

One more tip on the noise: It comes from the entertainment in Downtown Disney. So it ends about 11ish. You can see the fireworks from some balconies at the GC and the PP has a special viewing area for them.

You are going in Disney's off season and there are special rates right now. When you make your reservations don't hesitate to ask for bargain rates if you are calling Disney direct. (All they can do is say no.) The Disney hotel reservation system is first rate. They can work with you if you decide to go to both hotels.

Depends on you. I have had enough of them in about three hours (if there are no lines, at crowded times I am ready to leave in about 15 minutes). Some people go every day for a few hours all year and do not get tired of it.
