I'll be down in Anaheim/Garden Grove area for about a week for work and some genealogy research (and driving by to take pictures of where the old homestead used to be.)

While in the area, I'd like some suggestions for places to try. I looked at Yelp, but their four and five star ratings are full of Chains, Asian foods, or carts in Disneyland (their Corn Dog Cart has 4.5 stars BTW.)

Since I can only eat so much Asian food and corn dogs before getting a bit tired, I'd like to solicit opinions on good restaurants in the area. I'll need breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'll be willing to drive a ways for something spectacular for breakfast and dinner.

I can do anything but fish, but won't rule out a seafood place if they have any "must have" items on the menu. I'm also willing to try just about anything once.

I do not live there anymore myself - but I follow this blog and thought you might find it interesting. Eating My Way through OC: Orange

If you have never had Carne Asada fries or tacos's/burritos you might want to try them. I have been told by people on the San Diego forum that they have the best down there - but I am sure you can find some in OC. Maybe someone will jump in and give you some suggestions.

Where ever you eat - enjoy your visit. I grew up there and miss it very much - even if it is more crowded now.

For Dinner, go to the Grand Califonian Hotel at Disneyland - they have a restaurant, Napa Rose that is fantastic for dinner. Get the tasting menu, it is amazing no matter what is on it. I used to live in the area and it was the place we took anyone visiting. I am sure that corn dog cart is delicious too!

Tan Cang Newport Seafood in Garden Grove and Santa Ana.. I know you don't like fish but their lobster is the best I've had (and technically, it's not fish.)

OC Mining Co(Orange), good food, great view(ask for a window table), steak type place(kind of Claim Jumperish)
Mr Stox(Anaheim) - upscale steakhouse
The Hobbit(Orange) - one of a kind, very expensive and very worth it
Taco Mesa(Orange) - Some of the best Mexican food in So Cal(rated best burrito OC Weekly, among other things)
In-n-Out - Gotta have it for lunch at least once
Summit House(Fullerton) - Upscale restaurant, steak etc. Pricey, good
Steakhouse 55(Anaheim, Disneyland Hotel) - Upscale steakhouse, pricey, best onion soup I've had
Someone mentioned Napa Rose at the Grand Californian -- Storyteller's is also good right next door, little less expensive. Has a nice buffet(prime rib and such, so it's an upscale buffet) as well as a menu. Also serves breakfast I believe.

All I got for now
