Relocating from San Diego to OC for new job. Married couple with four kids age range from elementary to college. Looking for a great place to live near the new job in Irvine. Anywhere inland have high enough hills to catch a glimpse of the ocean? Ive heard actually living by the ocean is horrible for traffic and much more costly. The most important things are good schools and safe community to be active with the kids. Thanks for any helpful advice!

Irvine is a great place for working fams. Newport is expensive and high traffic, same as Costa Mesa. I live in Fountain Valley, family of 3 kids and love it. Huntington Beach is great too but with a vibe for a younger type demographic, college age and so fort. I work from home with own biz, wife is in school for RN and works part time. Schools in FV are excellent. But I would seriously recommend Irvine, it's sucha polished city.

Plenty of areas inland that offer ocean views, North Tustin, East Orange. Both areas have really good schools and have homes that offer spectacular views. There are very few homes in Irvine that have views, and there are 0 homes in Irvine with Ocean Views.

Problem with living in Irvine is its overcrowded and congested. If you can afford it I would recommend moving up to some of the hilly communities where it is less congested, offers spectacular views and the neighborhoods have character. Problem with most of these homes is they need to be updated and are older, you can get a new home or relatively new home that is fullly updated for much cheaper in Irvine.

Examples:

1712 LOMA ROJA, North Tustin, CA 92705 | MLS# P761576

11341 SKYLINE, North Tustin, CA 92705 | MLS# P770915

5282 East LOMITA Ave, Orange, CA 92869 | MLS# U11003942

OP didn't mention price range...those above start at nearly 1.5 million..so one pays for the view

Lemon Heights..also north tustin..we have a "glimpse" ocean view..on clear days...but this is a lovely area..to get "in the hills"..minimum price close to 1 million..some updated..some not..but it is a lovely area..
driving to Irvine about 5-7 miles...

I would prefer schools like Foothill HIgh..tho to tell the truth..do not have stats on Orange schools..unfortunately for those that don't like Irvine..their schools are excellent

good luck
