I had the lights thrown on me as I was attempting to enter my place of work. After using my badge to raise the secutity gate arm and handing him my license and registration with proof of Insurance, the officer proceeded in asking some very dumb questions?Do you work here and is this you vehicle? Insurance, license and registration all had the same Information. My question to him was, what's the problem? His response, I can't read your license plate from 50 feet. I checked from 75 feet and did not have any issues. So my conclusion is, they must be over worked to be stopping me for this type of [mod]language[/mod].....

There's almost no real crime in Irvine so traffic violations is serious business! Even if you didn't violate any, they're just bored. Irvine PD is probably the most overpaid and underworked police in the country, if not the world.

I'm glad they're doing their job (although I've too had my run-ins but not in Irvine.) Makes me feel safer driving in Irvine compared to the other cities here and it's a small price to pay rather than having to narrowly escape bad drivers on a regular basis.

File a formal complaint with the Irvine PD. If that officer has severe vision problems he should not be endangering the public by driving a police car.

Odd thread for a newbie. Also two people have reped him. I smell a small bridge.

Irvine has one of the lowest police per capita of any city in the US.

I used to work as a security guard back in the day in Irvine and yea what the others say is true, there is literally no crime. The police would come around and just chat with me for like 30mins-1 hour to kill time. Most of the calls they get are for trivial stuff.

Make sure to NEVER speed in Irvine, all the police just sit around on the side of the freeway with their radar guns just looking for people to ticket. Lots of idiots aren't from around irvine so they speed on the freeway and the IPD just pulls them over left and right. Kind of funny.

Also to OP, yea they'll do weird stuff like that all the time. I was once sitting in my car guarding a gate around midnight. The police roll up put the dash lights on me. I get out of the car and am like, "wtf?" I tell them I am security and they ask for my license and guard card to check lol. After that I just start BSing with them about what its like to work for IPD etc etc. After that, that officer would always roll up on me around midnight and chat for like a half hour.

Doing a job he was paid to do??? Sounds like a tax payers waste of money to me.
