Thanks everyone for the recommendations!
Much appreciated!

I'll be researching the ones I can join.

I've heard of Schools First, but I don't work for the schools.
Any credit unions for restaurant workers?

Cheers!

7-Elevens also have free ATMs for credit union members to use..

Any ATM with the CO-OP logo can be used for free (even if you're not eligible to sign up for the credit union hosting the ATM):

We're with Schools First (because my step dad works for a school, you just have to be related to someone with an account there to get an account), and we lived in WA for 3 years, where they don't exist. However, through the Co-op ATMs we were able to make deposits and withdraw cash.

V. =)

Whenout of state, you pay $3 to use the atm. Or, go to target, home depot, CVS etc. and pay with ATM and get cashback, that is free.

I didn't have to pay ATM fees when I was in WA.

Not necessarily. Co-op network ATMs are nationwide, but you need to look. No fees. Also, many credit unions(and USAA) provide fee reimbursement, as well.

I've used my CA credit union account via ATM in Michigan, New York, and Colorado without any fees incurred but only at 7-Eleven or Co-op ATMs.

This might also be a viable option for you:

Alliant Credit Union

Even though they're headquartered in Chicago, you don't have to be an Illinois resident to join. Plus they have surcharge-free access to a network of 80,000 ATMs, including the Co-Op Network, Allpoint and Bank of the West. They also have 24/7 member support via telephone, which most credit unions don't have.

However, if you need a credit union with a local physical branch, you can also join these institutions:

Nuvision Federal Credit Union
Orange County's Credit Union - Home Bank

I'm a member of SchoolsFirst FCU also and they're great! They have the nicest people working at their branches. With the Co-Op Network, I have access to over 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs, more than any of the "too big to fail" banks. My mother joined them at the end of September after being a Bank of America customer for over 50 years. What prompted her to do that was BofA's proposed $5.00/month debit card fee, which has since been rescinded.
