First, Irvine and Monrovia are two very widely separated cities for work. There's nowhere to live that isn't setting one or both of you up for a terrible commute. Riverside and San Bernardino counties are cheaper, but there's a big reason why: If you work in LA or OC, you'll spend whatever you save on mortgage on gasoline, car maintenance, tolls if you use the 91 Express Lanes, and time spent sitting in your car going 5 mph. If you MUST work is such distant cities, a somewhat midway point looks to be Diamond Bar or Brea. Its a nice area but not cheap. Why are you moving down here again?

La Habra is also in between and might be a touch cheaper, but why create a life with two long commutes and choosing to live in a place just because it's marginally convenient? You might consider living in one place or another and have one person do the commuting. Also, no need to buy at this point.

Its going to be 105ish for the next 3-5 days in Corona, is that really what you want? I work in Corona and its wouldn't be my choice. If you work in Irvine go South towards San Diego. Aliso Viejo or a bit south. a little pricey but you're sanity is worth it and the weather is far more tolerable

I would recommend staying as close as possible to where you work, the problem is that both of you work in highly different areas. Today it's about 105 and the humidity hit 40+%. I don't know exactly what you are looking for, coming from Seattle, there are major differences here in CA. Every city has it's good and bad points as well as it's good and bad areas. You need to take the time, come and visit the area. Take a real hard look at it, not like a tourist would. Drive the areas especially during peak traffic hours, this way you will get a feel for what you are getting into. Look at apartments and homes, don't do the tourist thing, really come and look at it from the perspective of daily living.

Best Wishes to you on your Relocation efforts
