Hi all, I'm relocating from NYC to Orange County, and am looking for apartments in the Huntington Beach/Newport Beach/Irvine areas. That said, it seems as though I'll find something that looks appealing in pictures/the listing, but when I check apartmentratings/yelp/reviews on the properties, there's generally overwhelmingly a negative response to the management/noise/nitpicking about security deposits. So I bring my question to you all-- do you have any recommendations for particular apartments/condo complexes in those areas that I should look into (and perhaps provide a more positive review than those on apartmentratings/yelp, which would generally be biased towards negative complaints?) Really, the only amenities I'm looking for would be an in-unit washer/dryer, ample parking, and something on the quieter-side-of-things.

I realize that $1800/mo. more than likely won't cut it in Newport, but if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'd recommend BRE at MacArthur Place in Santa Ana (South Coast Metro). It's right off the 405 and 55 freeways and is .25 miles to Irvine, Tustin, & Costa Mesa. I've been renting a 820 sq ft 1BD/1BA with appliances, in-unit washer and dryer, and storage closet for about $1500 per month. Hopefully I'll be moving out to Newport Beach if my real estate transaction goes through, but it's been a great 3.5 years here at BRE.

what is your definition of "ample" parking?? a 1 bedroom place at most gets you ONE spot....guest parking can be a toss up

good luck
