Talking Relo to Tustin

Hello.
I will relo to Tustin and have no clue where to live. I am a eastcoast female who is well-travelled, yet never lived away from my eastcoast area. My budget is $1200 - $1500 (hopefully I won't live under a freeway or garbage dump for this amount). In addition, I need at least 1500 sqft and 1 1/2 to 2 bathrooms. Rent only, I'm not interested in buying. I am single, no children. Help please, help!

1500 sqft for $1500/mo? I hope you like illegal aliens. Tustin has some nice areas but they aren't cheap. I'm not sure even the scummy areas are THAT cheap.

Default Reloqueen

How about the surrounding areas? Or, should I increase to $1800 per month?

Do you want to rent a house, townhouse, or an apartment? 1500 sqft is pretty big. I don't know of any apartments that big unless its big bucks. $1800 should get you a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in a nice part of Tustin. But it'll only be 900-1000 sqft. $1800 might rent you a townhouse from a private owner but again, it might be tough to get that much space. There's really no areas around there that are any cheaper except Santa Ana and you don't want to live there.

That's actually pretty big for So Cal, you may find that you can live with 1000 - 1200 Sqft which is the norm for 2 bedroom 2 bath apartments which you can find in the areas you are looking for ~1400 - 1600 per month.

One of the things to keep in mind here is that you may not need quite as much interior space as you can be outside at almost anytime of the year so if you can find something with a little outdoor space you can be out there most of the time as well.

I live in Tustin (the Tustin Ranch area) and as others have said, it will be difficult to find an apartment that sized for that much money. There are some very nice parts of town where a two bedroom will go for a minimum of $1600, some of the older areas may be less expensive but not as nice either. Any interest in finding a roommate? Maybe check on Craigslist or something like that if you are.
