Do single income middle class families with one or two kids exist in the OC area? Of course I know the answer is yes, but how common is it? And what salary would you say is needed to do so? My definitions of living comfortably would be 3 bed 2 bath house in safe area, two cars, good schools public, etc.

A lot of companies that I'm interested in working or have positions in the OC area, but based on all of the city cost of living calculations ive done, I have a feeling it's just too expensive for my above criteria

Vague questions i know, but Any insight would be appreciated.

Well, considering such a house would start around $500k, and if you put 20% down, you're looking at around $2400/mo for a house payment, not counting HOA if you have one. Factor in your other bills and go from there. Based on the housing cost, you wouldn't want to make less than $115k/yr. Even that feels tight with two kid.

Thank you for your reply. This gives me more facts to consider regarding salaries to negotiate for if I do end up applying for jobs out there.
