I'll be moving for a job in Irvine soon. Proximity to work is top priority (30 min commute at most, office basically at 405 and 55). Other than that, I'd like to be somewhere with single people, bars, restaurants, etc. But more young professional than college crowd. I'm 29. Any suggestions? I'd like to keep rent around $2000 (1br), but would probably go up to $2500 for the right location.

Definitely Newport Beach. It's only about 5-15 minutes from Irvine. It's pretty high end, but the upper end of your budget should get you a good 1 bedroom.

Great selection of bars and clubs, and a sizable population of 20 something working professionals.

The women there are gorgeous. It's pretty much a fact.

Laguna Beach would be another good option. It's even a little more high end, and is ideal for artists and gay men. (not assuming anything!) but just incase, its good to know. Its also close to Irvine.

Thanks cnev3. I'm into the gorgeous women myself, but to each his own. Any leads on good buildings/complexes?

Too many to pick out! Of course the closest to the beach you can find is ideal. Around the harbor area is prime, and Lido Island is a great area with beautiful properties.

Take your time and be picky
