Cycling is great in Orange County. We have dozens upon dozens of trails, which are scenic and safe. With our weather, it's an all year activity, not seasonal like other regions.

+1 for Sawdust Arts Festival in Laguna Beach (make a day of it and also see Art-a-Fair and then Festival of Arts--then plan to see Pageant of the Masters that night!)

Fun to me = SHOPPING...not horsebackriding, not going to the beach, not going to Disneyland etc. SHOPPING

South Coast Plaza is heaven on earth. You will think you have died and gone to the shopping heavens. Shop until you drop is my motto.

Root canals are even more fun than shopping at SCP. Just go to your dentist.

Eurotrash and over-cologned middle-easterners in Armani suits. Excellent for people watching

Pageant tickets. Are sold out a year in advance. Try Craigs list for resales. But plan in advance

It is well worth it tho. And changes each year

I'm a shopper too...as I've said already! I've gone to the South Coast Plaza a few times & went this past Sat after I went to the Pet Expo at the OC Fairgrounds. It was a fun day. I could browse The Container Store for a couple of hours. I do love amusement parks though!

I've got to check out Balboa Island.

jackie100, this isn't in OC, but have you been to the Westfield Topanga Mall? It's HUGE...bigger than the South Coast Plaza, I believe.

Nope; not a big fan of the valley. Just looked at the store selection and the brands look a lot more lower end than South Coast Plaza. South Coast Plaza is more upscale and they have stores like Gucci, Dior etc which makes it less of a "common mall" but more of a shopping experience. The people watching is better; you can spot people wearing pieces straight off the runway. The visitors to SCP will be more affluent and the people classier....

Topanga may be bigger but it's just a mall. Not comparable. It's not all about size. What is the point of it being big if it's crappy stores like Forever 21 and Gap?

Beverly Center is good too; I've been there.
