When did anaheim become undesirable?

I hear bad things about anaheim, but I remember going to DisneyLand in the mid 90's, And I walked along this long street that border the main entrance, and ran alongside it. There lots of little restaurants and tourists walking. And it was a very long walk.

I also stayed at a sheraton inn in anaheim there too around the same time.

It did not seem so bad then. Or was I just in a different part of it?

The area around Disneyland was really seedy for a long time, like decades. Lots of illegal alien heaven apartments and hourly no-tell motels. They cleaned up a lot of the areas immediately adjacent to the park around the time that they built Disney's California Adventure. I'm not sure of the exact timeline but DCA opened in 2001 so I'm sure progress was being made cleaning up the area by the time you were there in the mid 90's. But get couple of blocks away from Disneyland and the area gets run down and seedy again quick. We don't call it Anacrime for nothing. It competes with Santa Ana for the worst city in Orange County. Anaheim Hills is very nice and expensive though. It may as well be its own city.

Have you been to any other part of Anaheim besides Disneyland? Of course the tourist areas like Disneyland area nice. They bring in the city's cash.

You can't just go to one area where tourist go and judge the hole city by that.Citys like Miami,San Francisco,Honolulu,Las Vegas, and San Diego have some really rough areas away from the tourist type of areas. Now as for Anaheim being a bad city,it ain't even close. My cousin used to live on the westside which was a little bit rough but it still wasn't as bad as people say it is.Pretty much all crime in the city is well below the national average and places like Miami,Cleveland, and,Tampa, and ST Louis have nothing on crime and they have about the same population as ANA.Click this link and go down to where it says Crime.

The area around Disneyland is being cleaned up and suburbanized, and there are new developments near the stadium, but single-family housing in Anaheim has been struggling for decades outside of Anaheim Hills. It's the nature of an older suburb/city hybrid.

I always thought Anaheim was a nice city, until I got a car wash there today. The place was basically Mexico, I have nothing against Mexicans, but a little diversity would be nice.

anaheim became a digusting place when all the gangs and illegals took it over. if you're looking for disneyland...stay at disneyland. otherwise, don't even consider that area!
