We currently reside in CT and I am considering a job offer at Anaheim Medical Center. I am interested in being fairly close to the beach, and was wondering how the commute from Huntington Beach to Anaheim would be? I have to option to work four - 10 hour days, so would probably start morning commute around 6 or 6:30, maybe a bit earlier. Any advice would be appreciated.

Where is "Anaheim Medical Center"? There's several places with very similar names. If its the one on Beach Blvd, you could live straight down Beach Blvd and the commute wouldn't be too bad. The lights are synchronized so traffic usually moves pretty well for a street. If you're out in Anaheim Hills, the commute from HB would be much longer and you'd need the freeway.

If it's the West Anaheim Medical Center, you're in luck. It's 9.2 miles from Huntington Beach (Beach & Ellis), which should take about 20 minutes by car or about 50 minutes by bus (OCTA Route 29 - http://www.octa.net/pdf/pdf/june2011/route029.pdf).

If it is the Anaheim Regional Medical Center (on LaPalma) it would be about a 45 minute to one hour commute from Downtown HB

Huntington Beach is planning to build a rail line on the old PE right of way that still exists in their city. At the rate they're going, it will probably take another 50 years to complete. But if by some miracle they're able to fast track it, the commute should be less than 30 minutes.

I believe it is on La Palma. An hour commute does not sound fun however! May need to consider whether being close to the beach is that important to us!

I also found a condo listing in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. Would this be a more reasonable commute to Anaheim?

Easy enough. but still about a 45 minute drive. Will be even easier when the HWY 22 connnectors are updated
