But does it compare to the natural beauty of Cali? i can vouch for California, it's so beautiful. I love Oklahoma and everywhere I've been. but Cali just has it all. its just so expensive

Does it have anymore positive qualities?

I moved from OC a little over a year ago and now I'm working on moving back. I miss it so much. I can deal with the snooty people and the lack of space, I just want back the climate, I want back the sea and beaches, I want back the spectrum and south coast, I want back the lifestyle that I had there. You can't get OC anywhere else, it takes being away to realize what you miss about it.

I can't get back there quick enough!

It used to be so nice in the 60's when there was still open land between cities. You really can't think of one thing you don't like?
Also your last statement doesn't make sense to me. Does it mean that if you are unhappy about where you live, than no matter where you move you will still be unhappy? I think folks can indeed move and be happier with a different area. After all, places change, needs and priorities change.
It did for us.
Folks..Orange County isn't quite three million yet. Where do you keep getting eight million?

OC rules. I love the place.

Convenience--even with traffic. Everything is here, and if isn't in OC itself, it's with a day's drive (or much less, usually):

Beaches, Lakes, Rivers, Mountains (SNOWBOARDING!!! ^_^), Great shopping (South Coast, outlets--woo!), Deserts, VEGAS!, Mexico, LA, SF, SD, Disneyland, Six Flags, Knott's, Universal, Theatre, WeHo!, Yummy ethnic food, Concerts every night somewhere local, Ports (so you don't have to fly to the coast to take a cruise)... plus, it's only a 5-hour (approx?) flight to Hawaii! And Catalina's a quick boat trip away, too! ^_^

ANd, as a added bonus, thanks to our fabulous weather you do most activities all year long (minus SNOWBOARDING!!!, dang it--where's the snow?!?!?).

It's a great place to live. I love it! ^_^

it's also about the people. the oc is very diverse. if you want to hang out with white folks, just head down to huntington or newport. if you want some authentic mexican, eat in santa ana or costa mesa. and of course there's westminster and irvine for the asian stuff.

A few sore heads who have no life are in here complaining about it.
I spent 50 years in Buena Park, Fullerton and Yorba Linda. I can't rremember anything about it I didn't like. Well, maybe a couple of bosses I had, but I don't think that counts.
It doesn't matter where you live, if you are unhappy, you will remain unhappy.
I think what you are witnessing in this forum is people who lived in Orange County but are now in Colorado, and they're bitter over the fact they can no longer afford to live in Orange County. These people come in here and try to make themselves feel better by ripping on OC. The bad part is, we are now stuck with these pathetic, bitter individuals here in Colorado. I would ignore them.

I love SoCal so much that we're moving there and taking the hit. The high prices don't bother me. You sacrifice for what you love.

Don't let anyone say anything about your snobbish fake people and pretentious atmosphere - the lousy drivers (ya you Little Saigon - don't be offended you know it's true) - the noisy streets - and pseudo fashionable sense. I still love you. I remember my lovely drives up and down PCH, my Starbucks on every corner, the beach, the wet suit clad surfers, IN n OUT, little posh stores that I love to hate and the wanna be cool stores (damn you Tillys!), and the cool (mostly) temperate climate. I miss going up to Big Bear in the Winter and the Los Angeles camping experience. I miss Ikea. Can you send me an Ikea please? I would be forever grateful. And Woodys. *sigh* I miss year round flip flops and being able to go somewhere without people bothering me (sometimes it's just pesky with the people being so damn nice here in Denver.... hahaha) I miss my pagans - such a lovely and large diverse pagan population.... heck diversity in general. You will always call me back and I promise to keep coming to visit often.

I have left you and I am probably never coming back for more than a week here and there - don't be mad. It's not you - it's me. I just can't afford the apartment prices anymore and keep up a carefree lifestyle. I still love you and I miss home.
I moved from OC to Denver too. I live in central Denver, so I see diversity. I love this place! I miss things about OC, but I'd never go back to live - unless I hit the lotto and can move to Laguna and buy a nice house with an ocean view where I don't have to work so I don't have to sit in traffic.
