I did now grew up in the 90's as a teen, however I was still a kid, I still remember news, how places got robbed, violent gangs, mostly form either Hispanic, or Vietnamese ethnic.

Personally for my family (i am white), my brother kicked it with alot of vietnamese, and I remember there car got shot up with them inside multiple times around summer time.

Well I did some half ass project about orange county gang past in my senior year project, but now going back I did lots of re studying.

So comparing from the street of l.a. vs orange county in the 90's...was orange county nothing?

Because I know Santa Ana was a really dangerous city for hispanic, and Little saigon (westminister and garden grove) was full of viet gangs.

At the prime crime, was 1993, where 3 viet cafe was shot up killing total 5, 2 pool hall shootings killing 2
a lounge shooting killing 2, injure 3, and a couple of intersection shootings racking up 2 more kills in little saigon. from nip family to cheap boyz gang

During the same day, santa ana wise, it was 17 street and 5th street where they did a drive by killed 2 people, and the gang reacted again, killing 2 more by the local school. That night there was a park shooting deep in santa ana killing 3 more

I notice though Viet gang back then rarely ever got caught, as also they tend to sometimes claim a different ethnic to kill some guy to loose police.

I know l.a. has more violence, but comparing as a whole, orange county is not even the size of l.a. or barely the same size, but l.a. has over population much more than orange county. o.c. also over all is not even as poor as l.a. to have that much violence

You brought up a good point. Orange County, even in the poor areas is actually pretty decent.
Vietnamese gangs, never even experience the real poor life in america, but yet they turn out extremely violent.
(saw news back then, they cut people, and put them in boiling water) they were also on the majority really smart in school despite coming from a diff country.

but viet gangs back then do not fight over territory, rather they mostly shoot and gang wars start over girls.

In my opinion los A is too over crowded, if oc was just as crowded it would had been worst, gangs in oc over all are more calculating, especially asian gangs, viet gangs are calculating and violent, so its even plus.

Mexican gangs are disciplin in oc, carrying out orders correctly, i will give them that, viet gangs tend to be independent of their ogs , and only blast when they want to...in jail or prison, they would not carry out any order that would send them more time, the surenos mexican mafia is more effective in prison this way with their soldiers being extremely obedient

I grew up and went to school in Santa Ana in the 60's and early 70's (moved to South OC later) and it was pretty bad. Dont know how it is now though.

Just join the local gang and wear the colors, you new homies will look out for you.

I moved to Oklahoma, gangs here are a joke... They think they are bad asses... I never hesitate to give one of these clowns a proper California *****-slapping.

Funny to see a Native American that thinks he is "ghetto", blasting his gangsta rap in a car that doesn't run and living in a town of 500(Pretty much anyone in the area knows you.) having his ass handed to him by my wife. They need roll models here to show them what a gang member is.

OC has had gang issues for some time, what I call gang lite. Not the bangers in South Central. GG and Westminster have some Asian gangs. Santa Ana, Orange, Costa Mesa has mostly Hispanic gang members. I can remember being in 8th grade when F Troop showed up at my junior high. Costa Mesa PD swarmed them, arrested them, and made it known they were not welcome.

Just use your common sense. If you are Irvine, North Tustin, Anaheim Hills, Orange Park Acres you are gang free. If you are in South Coast Metro you are mostly gang free.

Remember when RAM for computers was worth gold. Sophisticated Asian gang members robbed those places in Irvine Spectrum at gun points stealing whole containers worth of RAM.
