I want to move back to OC BAD!! (from New England!)
There are some things that I really like about New England (the people are frugal, fiscal conservatives, the open space, the nature, the lower cost of living-relatively.)
BUT .. I have very HIGH standards. And this place is NOT planned as well as 949..... People fly through supermarket parking lots because there are NO speed bumps!! There are plenty of GOOD people here, but there are WAY TOO MANY HIPPIES... I miss living in a place where people are self motivated.. entrepreneurial.. and not so darn social introverted and depressed.

The only thing people can find in common up here is our sports teams. HOW SAD!!
WE got MORE HIPPIES than a mini San Francisco who think they should be able to be handed a "perfect life" without lifting their head from the bong and GETTING AN ACTUAL JOB!

You have to realize we are a much younger state than many New England states. I think we have learned from their mistakes. Part of the charm of New England is the fact that everything is so imperfect. It has history.
I have lived in So Cal my whole life and there are many very nice areas. I love many things about OC, but one thing I hate is how they try to have that "New England" feel yet it looks sterile, Disney clean, and just plain stepford-ish. I think people here are more social because they can go outdoors more, and see a lot of sunshine.
I think if you live in New England you have to learn to appreciate it's good points. Many people will have just as much negative things to say about OC just as you do about NE.
