Laguna Wilderness is a true gem. Next time if you have the legs I'd recommend hiking emerald canyon trail from the bottom of Art School. Good views and then go do it on your mountain bike!

Today a friend and I hiked for hours on a trail to Top of the World in Laguna Beach and went back; hours of hiking. It was breathtaking. Beware, there are many rattlesnakes out. I even saw a roadrunner. Enjoy the photo. I tried to upload ones looking out at the ocean, but they exceeded the size limit and I don't have the patience to resize them.

Nice good reminder. I was at Crescent, but those are good trails and I haven't MB'd much since I moved back. Time to hit it

One of my favorite places in OC, and California overall. I get out there whenever I want a combination of a serious workout hike, excellent scenery and within a short driving distance. The awesome part about these trails, is that you can make it as short or as long as you want to. I've done short two hour hikes there, but also done an all day thing where I started at Laguna Wilderness then went into Crysal Cove SP, all the way down to the beach and back. My only regret was not starting earlier so I could spend more time relaxing on the beach, as I was concerned about heading back before sunset (they close the gates sometime after sunset at the Laguna Wilderness entrances).

These are some pictures I took a few years back: https://www.flickr.com/photos/duriez/
