Good & Bad Things about Buena Park, CA (Santa Ana, Anaheim: apartments, condos)

And more to say, since I am traveling from India on deputation to one of biggest company in US, I will be involving and concentrating in work. What I all need is safe environment and good peoples. My family should be safe while I am in office.

I choose this place only because my friend is staying there for 1 yrs and I don’t want to put effort in searching or staying at hotel with family and finding an apartment. So it might be a momentary place and I have a good list where to stay in OC and commute to Compton.

Nice older Suburb, It has more minorities than it did 30 years ago good thing (I am black) Safe, affordable. Like other posters had said BP is touristy like Anaheim without the crime issues nicer homes are on the north side with the Los Coyotes Country Club and the neighboring WestRidge Golf Club in La Habra and the proposed West Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton.

My brother lived in BP and he liked it.

I have friend from high school who lives in a lakefront community Just off Malvern Ave and Beach ( I forgot the name of the development sorry) with his wife and kids very nice development they love it. Good schools Fullerton City Schools, I believe.

The city are working on redeveloping the Nabisco Factory which closed 3 years ago.
Buena Park Mall has been remodeled Anchored by Sears, Wal-Mart and Ross and Krikorian 18 Theaters ( if you want Macy's And Nordstrom Los Cerritos Center is 5 miles away in Cerritos or 10 miles in Brea)

Buena Park has auto row just above the Santa Ana and Riverside Freeway.

Much like most cities its hit and miss over all Buena Park is a good fit.

hi,I'm a new member and can't tell you how much thrilled I am to find this forum Me and my 4 friends will be spending the summer in Buena Park. Actually will work in the Knotts Berry Farm we did not want to rent a place before going there..we are thinking checking in a hotel and a few days later find a place to stay hopefully..
Apartments seem nice and neat..there is this one near to the park called "villa buena apartments". what can you say about the place ? actually I would be really grateful if you could just answer a few questions for me..we are going there in three weeks but don't know anything really..

-how can i get to the buena park from LAX?
-Is there any affordable hotels you can recommend ?
-Again is there any place that you know which can be rented for 3 months and near to the park ?
-I heard that public transportation is very rare,is that true?

If I can get answers from you i may have ant other questions about the place (to the locals especially) for example i read here that there are places that should be avoided..I would not want to experience bad things when I'm coming there with excitement..and one last question i promise..is the city expensive ?? I mean ,can we survive there,what do you think ?

buena park from LAX - you can probably get a shuttle to take you to knotts(or nearby hotel).. or taxi. with no car those are your options.

affordable hotels - theres plenty of hotels nearby, use priceline.com or something to choose and book

apts - the location of the villa buena apartment complex is fine if you dont have a car and the area itself is fine. as far as summer rentals/month to month leases, perhaps you can look near cypress college a few blocks away. there should be some month to month options and possibly some apts open for the summer.

public transportation - all you have are busses, and while you can probably find a way to get to point a to point b using them, doing that in a reasonable amount of time or finding a direct route may be impossible.

thank a lot for replying..i will use the site for searching hotels..as far as i know buena park is a small city (compared to others)with workers and locals..i'm not looking for a place like LA or OC itsels,i mostly know where i am going the funny thing is when i talked to our employer if it is a expensive place and she answered CA is the most expensive state in the states but buena park is a small place so it won't be a problem for you, i hope that she's right you talked about shuttles..i don't know them exactly..are they easy to find ?about the transportation,i'm used to take buses here so it is not a problem unless they are hard to access..the area we are going to work and thinking to stay in is nice i guess..i don't want to end up in those dangerous places that are mentioned..thanx again for your help..

most of buena park is fine, and the area you're looking at is in an area you'll be safe in.

as far as shuttles, some hotels will provide a shuttle service(though probably not as far as LAX to BP) but you could ask them. you could also look up airport shuttle services online for LAX.. should be cheaper than a taxi

Coming from India, Buena Park could be good option for you. It's fairly clean and safe, and it has a pretty large Indian population. Little India (in Artesia/Cerritos) is only a few miles away, so you can find some of the comforts of home. Also, in Buena Park, there is a very large Jain temple, which seems to be attracting more Indian businesses. There is also a significant Sikh community.

On the downside, Buena Park is a little bit shabby; it's older and a little unkempt. It also has no community focus or defined downtown. It has some seedy neighborhoods, too. However, even in the worst neighborhood in Buena Park, you could take an evening stroll without fearing for your life. Buena Park is also fairly cheap, rent-wise, when compared to other cities in OC.

All in all, Buena Park is a decent choice for you, at least as far as getting settled in Southern CA.

True, look at Mexico, especially its border towns from whence most of California's Hispanic immigrants flee from. Those towns are decent, relatively clean, and for the most part - safe. Right? Therefore it only makes sense that persons coming from those towns bring with them a culture of safety and cleanliness to enhance places like Buena Park, Santa Ana and Anaheim.

Enough of this ignorant, love-filled baloney already.
