Enough of this ignorant, love-filled baloney already.

You know what? It's people like you that bring any community down?
I'm Hispanic, so, I guess I automatically bring my neighborhood down? Oh, I must also not have enough money to afford this computer, right? I don't live in a house, no it has to be in a bad neighborhood? Because I'm Hispanic, right? The other 20 or so Hispanic families in the San Tract? They must be bringing it down because their Hispanic. They must not own computers, right? They must be crime-filled, trashy, dirty, illegal immigrants right? All of them? Just because we're Hispanic, right? And my family must have commited serious crimes, right? All of us? Criminals from birth? Seriously, people like you make me sick.
Anyways, I am a resident of Buena Park. It is a pretty pleasant place, and as much as people say, the mall has undergone renovation a couple of years back and is looking great. Knott's is fun for kids and it's better than Disneyland for teenagers. Yes, it has HISPANICS, but its still a GREAT place, with a fairly large population of Asians, Whites, and such. It's a pretty good place, and it's like most of the other cities around it: Fullerton, Cypress, La Palma, Anaheim.

It's a GREAT place compared to what, Mexico? But for people like me, who grew up in Buena Park in the 70s, it is not nearly as great a place as it was. Why? Primarily because of more Hispanic gangs and more illegal aliens.
I remember riding my bike miles to the Buena Park Mall when I was 10 years old. Never had any problems. Now you read about kids being shot off their bikes, and surprise, the Hispanic gangs strike again. Try reading the 300+ comments about that Buena Park story here and tell me why you want your children growing up and going to school there today (assuming you don't come from somewhere that is much worse than this):

Of course I know that not all Hispanics contribute to these problems. But it would be extremely refreshing if the large population of legal, law-abiding American citizens of Hispanic descent would start making some noise, start demonstrating against these offenders. They might earn back their good name, which many of them deserve as very hard-working and fun people.

Mexicans are very much like all other groups, including white, There are some very bad ones, some very good ones, and a whole lot of average one in between.
BP is a great town, I lived there for years, my parents lived there until they died of old age.
Don't worry about a thing, come for four months and enjoy yourself without fear.... Don't let anyone scare you off from having a great experience.

As per my knowledge Udaii, Buena Park is also home to Korean, Chinese,
Filipino and Vietnamese Americans.
-Buena Park is noted for its Asian-themed restaurants.
-A special shopping area known as "Indian Village" is established there.
- Its a home to several well-known tourist destinations which you may be already knowing.

I spent the first 15 years of my life living in Buena Park (left in early 1973) and it was a pretty decent working class community back then. There were no gangs there then. Those apartment buildings on Knott north of La Palma were also mostly rented by decent working class families and crime wasn't much of a concern.
But during the 1980's, the gangs and illegals started moving in and BP started on a downhill slide. Stay away from the area on Beach north of La Palma, especially around Ninth Street. The apartments close to Beach near the post office use to be pretty nice. I have no idea what they are like now. Also, the apartments next to Walter Knott Elementary on La Palma became condos (which is why we moved) and they are way overpriced to me. There is also another apartment development next to that on a cul de sac that empties out to Knott Ave. that was okay. But it is more for singles or childless couples. The Buena Park Library is right in front of the apartments where I used to live and it's still in pretty good shape, though. The BP Mall was always kinda cheesy to me. It's over on La Palma and Stanton.
Going west, I also liked the areas close to Cypress (I can still remember when Cypress was mostly cow pastures and you knew when you were getting close to it by the smell. They also had a dairy or two there) as well as the area around Kennedy High School. But those have also gotten more rundown.
So yeah, the area around Buena Park High School, Sunny Hills or that general area with the border of Fullerton is now the best place to live in BP. The high schools in the AUHSD (Anaheim Unified School District) generally suck, though. Many of them are quite gang riddled.

Since the original post was over a year ago, I would be very interested in finding out how the stay here went and your opinion of the area. I doubt that the original poster still reads this, but if so - could you let me know where you stayed and how you feel about Buena Park now.
