And during summer every weekend would be a pool party with a band or DJ and I think the In n Out truck. There is also a market and a very nice gym. So everything is right there. Fashion Island is across the street with lots of good dining, movies, and shops. It was a great location. And you are on the back bay for bike riding or walking. Wow I sound like an advertisement. Anyway it was a really fun experience and time for 5 years.
There was a nice mix of college , young professionals, and retired people.
Park Newport is fun. A friend lived there and it awesome walking the back bay. The only reason I wouldn't rent there, is I am a light sleeper and they are older build, but location is good, and would be fine.

1400!? seriously? that's actually pretty cheap.

Right now I pay 1700 for a crappy apt in Santa Monica.

I keep seeing a bunch of 2000+ apts in Newport but then again, I'm only using Zillow.

Is westsiderentals.com a good site to search in the OC?

Both cites would be cool. The only drawback of Laguna Beach is that there are essentially on two roads in and out of town. Traffic can be a mess, especially during tourist season.
