Hi! I need some suggestions. My husband works in Garden Grove. I work in Beverly Hills. We make about 220k/year. We want to spend 600-700k on a house as we also have a rental (1st house we bought in Riverside in 2007). We have been looking around Pasadena area but the commute for both us are 45-1hr and housing here is very expensive & schools are not that great. We prefer OC so we start to look around Cypress, Cerritos, and Los Alamitos. Good schools. These cities are closed to my husband and about 30 miles from Beverly Hils. I work 3 days/week, 7 am-730 pm so I think my commute will be 45 min on weekend (I work every other weekend) and 1hr-1hr15min weekday. Is it realistic? Any other suggestions? Any realtor you suggest? It seems like there is not many listings in those areas. Thanks.

That's really nice of you to take the long commute rather than your husband, but I think if I were in your shoes, I would rather live in Orange County than West LA or any other part of LA County.

I'm in the westside of Garden Grove and my husband works in the West LA area. The commute for him during the week is not an hour or 1.25 hours, but he does have somewhat flexible hours (gets in late, leave late).

Pasadena to Bev. Hills sounds horrendous. The 110, 10 and all the fwys up there are just so congested. The houses can be gorgeous, but I could not stand the Pasadena heat.

Regarding Cypress, Cerritos and Los Alamitos--those are great cities and you should be able to find a 600-700k house there. Good schools. Safe cities.

I do realize that. But It's in close proximity to North OC so I'm including it. Cerritos will be a lilttle better drive to West LA for me. I can't find a decent listing in my price range of 700K though :-( Maybe 2015 will be better...

You could find something in Artesia bordering on Cerritos that lands in the same school district. Little bit cheaper.

I'm a critical care registered nurse so I work 3 days/week (12 hr shift).

I saw these listings:

https://www.redfin.com/CA/Cerritos/1...3/home/7467231

Is this in a good area? It is too close to the freeway?

This one in Cypress, looks like it is backing up to a 4 lane street.

Which one is better? I have an appointment to view them on saturday but I want to hear from you all to see what I need to consider.

Thank you :-)
