I am seeing another postseason of underachievement for the Ducks under Boudreau's watch. The same MO he had with the Capitals. The concern goes beyond having 2 mediocre goaltenders. This showing against Dallas tonight was deplorable with the playoffs starting next week. I am honestly wondering if they want out of the top seed to avoid the Kings. Bruce Boudreau actually admitted that he hopes the Kings miss the playoffs. Way to exude confidence Bruce. Considering the Kings won in 7 games last year, I would be salivating for a chance at revenge.

I pose two questions...

1) How far will the Ducks advance ?

2) Does Bruce Boudreau get fired with another early round loss ? These Pacific Division Titles mean squat. Until I see otherwise, we have the Marty Schottenheimer of NHL coaches.

Well, avoiding the Kings isn't a problem anymore lol.

1. It's really hard to tell with this team. On paper they look real good, but how will Bruce's constant line-juggling and goalie-juggling affect them in the playoffs? There's 1 game left in the season and the lineup still doesn't seem to be set which is crazy. So it's hard to say what they'll do, I could see them winning it all or going out in the 1st or 2nd round.

2. It's so weird because he just kills it in the regular season every single year he's been a coach. I feel like that's more important in hockey than other sports as it's so much tougher to get in the playoffs. Look at the Kings right now. However if it's a 1st round exit, I think his job could be on the line. If they get past the 1st round, I doubt he gets fired.

Going back to his Capitals days, my biggest issue with Boudreau is his record in Game 7's with both the Caps and Ducks. After losing Game 6 against LA in heartbreaking fashion they just laid down on home ice 6-2 in game 7 last year. He just doesn't exude confidence in pressure situations and it resonates with his teams. Maybe they will surprise us this year but not holding my breath.
