I am moving to this area, and it looks like there are no Target's, Best Buy's, Borders, Barnes & Nobles, malls, etc... basically sounds like corporate chains have been banned! Don't get me wrong... I'd love to support the locals... but CDs, Movies, Clothes, Books... am I going to have to drive 20 minutes just to get what I need?
Also, what is a general description you'd give this area? |

There's a Wal-Mart in the Talega area, but for the most part... yes, it's about 20-30 minutes north to most of those services.
The downtown is small and charming... but not really a ton of services/shops there. It's quiet, a surfer-type downtown, with very expensive housing. Nice area -- just don't expect to walk to Best Buy! |

Why support local businesses who then just go spend that money at Best Buy themselves?
