Especially in Orange, or Old Towne Orange; but if you live anywhere in OC I'd like to know how hard it is to use public transportation for some people.

You are better off using uber if there available drivers.

I use it to get to work a few days a week, but I work down the same main street I live off of. You'll notice I said get to work because it doesn't run when I get off work. It also doesn't run on Sundays or holidays even though it goes up and down a very major street in this area. Also, it starts running later on Saturdays, so when I work Saturday mornings it also isn't an option.

OCTA is a better option for people in Northern Orange County than for people down here South County, though.

When I first moved here I didn't have a car, so I had to use the OCTA bus to go back and forth between work. It was pretty good as far as these things go, it was always right on time which is good, but the problem is that it isn't hard to be on time when you only hit a certain stop about 6 times a day...the frequency of buses is utterly horrible. You literally have to plan your trip hours in advance just to go a few miles down the way, it's not like most public transit systems where you just run down to the bus stop, wait a few minutes, and one shows up sooner or later. If you miss the bus, then you're pretty much screwed because another one isn't coming for at least another hour.

So I guess in Northern Orange County the frequency of buses is better.

I used to take the bus to work in the La Habra-Whittier area, but that was many years ago. Really never had any problem with it, but I followed a straightforward route at the same time every day.

i know someone who lives in Anaheim and work in irvine. she rides the train everyday. she uses one old cars in getting to the train station and leave it there. then she uses another old car from irvine station to her work.

she probably saves around 30 minutes each way and less stress.

i think thats the smartest thing ive known

I use the bus system a few times out of the year when I need to drop my car off at the garage. I find the bus system to be unpredictably crowded down some routes, seldom used down other routes, a little on the pricey side when you have to make transfers, and very slow to get to your destination (given the bus makes numerous stops). However, the bus system is very easy to use if you have a smartphone with Google Maps.

OC is a suburb, so OCTA runs a transit system that you can expect suburban levels of service. In other words, it ma be truly convinient in very few situations, and no, not necessarily better in North OC. OCTA is only if desperate. Metrolink is a different sevice and matter.

People in OC love their cars too much to use public transit. Therefore due to lack of popularity, you'll get a bus drive by every couple of hours.
