The statement is simply a fact that the Asian population is booming in the O.C. and more noticeable lately. If you want to twist and turn it into some kind of judgement, it simply shows your own hidden biases.
Then, why keep on bringing up Asian population % on the Good/Bad of living in Orange County topic? But, I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Some on this board will see it as part of the "bad" of Orange County for having a sizable Asian population, others may see it as a "good". While others may be indifferent.

If you want to state a fact, then why don't you also bring up Santa Ana is predominately Hispanic or South Orange County is predominately white, while you are at it?

On the side: the fact that 80% of the people if bump into at South Coast Plaza or Fashion Island is Asian does not mean that OC is 80% Asian. For all you know, perhaps many of the people are visiting and not live in OC. Though, I would disagree that 80% of the people you see at South Coast Plaza or Fashion Island is Asian. The Asian population of OC is nowhere near 80%, not even close to 50%.

I'm just curious why the focus on the "booming" Asian population in OC?

Maybe because I was doing "touristy" things while visiting--it just seems like a difficult place to live. I realize it is expensive too, although Chicago is pricey also. Any other thoughts on what I should consider? Anyone else relocate?
Great thing about Orange County compared to surrounding counties is we don't seem to get the big quakes...like they just did in LA. Felt it though.

You sound like a closet racist and add judgements out of your own imagination. In what way is there any wrong in commenting about a growing population? You're utterly strange.

Closet racist? In what way? I would think you are the closet racist by exaggerating the Asian population numbers, in the tone, that seems negative. My point is if you want to talk about the racial breakdown in Orange County, then why not discuss all groups-Whites, Asians, Latinos, etc. equally. How is that being a closet racist? I just find it interesting that you put so much emphasis on Asian population boom is brought up in the GOOD/BAD about living in Orange County (and really exaggerate the numbers).

Default orange county lifestyle

ahhh besides the high cost of living.
I'm a teacher, and moved down here, and realized I haven't had a decent relationship SINCE I moved back to OC from NorCal.
So besides the high home prices, the family values, and dating are nonsense here. Men think they are gods gift to women.
Probably the only city in US where men get botox, penile injections and plastic surgery.
Infidelity is out of control!
I gotta move out of here and quick!

LOL! Its so true...
The men in the OC are DREADFUL. And what's the deal with the ugly prison tatoos and them wanting a porn star for a partner all the time? These men are gross.
For years I've told my girlfriends to find a man out of state. Only now are they settled and in a good relationship - with a man out of state (!).

You really have issues with accepting people, don't you?

The asian population has increased dramatically in a very short time. Why then should we mention other groups that haven't boomed? Would you react the same way if we mentioned caucatians?

According to your statements no one is allowed tomention any word containing the reference to any ethnic group... It really appears rather absurd! The issue is clearly with YOU.

Perhaps, you should look at why I write what I write. Here are some previous posts from other people which I was reacting to. A couple from “Irvinedebs”. They don’t sound too positive about the Asian population do they? Stating things like Irvine is 80% Asian and basically looking like Hong Kong and can’t wait to get out. Does that sound positive to you? If people are allowed to express their opinion that OC is going downhill with traffic, overpopulation and growing Asian population- why can’t I express why I don’t think a large population is not a negative. It seems like people like Irvinedebs thinks it is a negative to have a large Asian population and Irvinedebs prefers to move to a place with less traffic, less Asian. Irvinedebs is fine to do that and fine to express his/her opinion. Irvinedebs is free to move whereever Irvinedebs wants to. So, why can’t I express my opinion? Do you have a problem with me expressing my opinion? Do I see you calling Irvinedebs a “closet racist?” Perhaps you should read the context of why I am writing what I write before you start throwing out personal insults and making blind accusations.

The city is going down hill, they are building apartment complexes in industrial zones, there is one asian center after another here. Cant wait to get out of here

Irvinedebs:
The asian population in Irvine in Orange County is about 80% percent, I have no idea where they are all coming from. It does look like Hong Kong, cant wait to move out of Calif this summer.

Below are a couple of things you’ve (Antibes) written:

Antibes:
If the Asian population would be only 30%, I would not come across 80% of them in every mall and outside activity in the OC. The city data must be old and outdated. The Asian population has escalated drastically just in recent years. The same with the persian population around the coastal areas.

Antibes:
Try Huntington Beach, Newport (Fashion Island) and anything else nearby, South Coast Plaza and surrounding. There's a huge asian population boom in these areas, no doubt. Someone else mentioned Irvine.
I have never seen such dramatic changes in population growth in such a short time.

Besides, the statistics simply cannot be accurate. If you're driving to LA, or are in LA, every second driver next to you is asian. Hardly makes the low percentage in the statistics realistic.
__________________________________________________ ______________
Okay, fine, no one including myself have no problem with your making a generation observation about your seeing alot of Asian.

But perhaps you should check statistics which I don’t think they have changed dramtically:

See:
Orange County, California - Fact Sheet - American FactFinder

Yes, the statistics are from 2006 and list the Asian population as 16.1%, Latino as 32.9% and white population as 64.8%, Though I may agree that the Asian and Latino population is growing at a fast rate, I hardly think the rise is as fast as you project.

Here’s the US Census statistics on Irvine

Irvine city, California - Fact Sheet - American FactFinder

Irvine is no where near 80% Asian as Irvinedebs expressed. Not even close. It is closer to 35%. Not quite the “Asian Invasion” Irvinedebs like to portray.

I don’t have a problem accepting people different from me. I have no problem people talking about ethnic groups in OC. I have problems with people spewing out inaccurate information and skewing the facts, exaggerating things. Again, I think you need to read more carefully before you start spewing false accusations.

Why do you seem upset that the population of one ethnic group is increasing? Is there a law which says whites should constantly be 80% of the population, blacks should be 15%, or Asians 5%? Why do you characterize the increase in Asians as "dramatic" as if you've been keeping score and have become alarmed at being outnumbered?

People should be treated and judged as individuals, not as members of a race. I could care less if Asians were 100% or 0% in the area. What I care about is the humans that live there are actually productive members of society, regardless of their color.
