Don't be so hard on the US. Perhaps another trip is in order to a different part of the states. Such variation here.

Costa Mesa? That is one of the most laid back, diverse and non-snobby areas near the beach in OC!

I can't imagine how horrible your time would have been if you spent it all in Los Angeles or New York City.

Do you live on a farm or a prairie back in your homeland by chance?
