If you're in the far side of Irvine and going say to the Balboa peninsula and going down 55 to Newport Bl on a busy weekend you could be looking at 1/2 hr to get there and 1/2 hr to finally find a parking spot

Also Irvine is one of the most safest places in America, but Santa Ana is like 5 miles away? How is this possible?

Irvine cops also have a reputation as jerks (whether that's true or not), and that keeps a lot of riff raff out. They're way too easy of targets.

They have enough to keep them busy in Santa Ana.

This is what I meant by the question. Does everyone just generally stay in their city or do they go to other cities like everyday.

I still don't think you grasp the layout of OC. The cities are not very large and there are no breaks between them. People definitely DO go to other cities every day. Or they might stay close to home in their own city. It just depends on the person. But, for instance, if I want to go to a mall or the beach I have to leave my city because there are no malls or beaches there. My husband works in another city. My daughter goes to school in yet another city. And it is just totally not a big deal or something people ever think about.

Of course, the lower-income you are, the more likely you are to stay close to home. Transportation costs money. If the question is why do Santa Ana gang bangers not go wreak havoc in Irvine, the answer is that they can do that where they are and why should they make an effort to travel somewhere else to do it.

Only if they work there. Imagine living in the Stepford Wifes movie. That's Irvine. Antiseptic, expensive and everything is the same. It's a city with no substance. Some like that plain vanilla taste. If you don't look like you belong you're gonna get harassed

Sorta kinda can be. I got the third-degree one night from an Irvine cop a number of years back while waiting for a bus at Redhill and MacArthur. Wanted to know where I lived. At the time it was Anaheim Hills. I'm glad he liked my answer.
