Well, I can't wait to come back and hope that I can figure out a way financially to do it!

Aliso Viejo is a crowded patchwork of clone homes and streets and chain restaurants. I get dizzy and confused driving there because of the oppressive sameness.

Pretty sure that article either isn't up-to-date or it just has a clear bias.

Also, Marina Del Rey is higher than Newport Beach and San Clemente. Also, there are a whole slew of cities ranked 84 (tied with Newport and San Clemente) but they only listed two OC cities instead of places like:

Westlake Village
Coronado
Claremont
Hermosa Beach
Ladera Heights
Ladera Ranch (OC)
Villa Park (OC)

9 of the cities on that list are literally small burbs full of tract homes.

So yeah if you like tract homes, and shopping at Lowe's, I guess Aliso Viejo is a great place to live.

Aliso is located in a beautiful area and it has access to Laguna beach. It's Lowes is a plus as far as I'm concerned. I'm not 100% sure what city Aliso is a burb of, but whatever it is, it's good. Add to that jobs and newer housing, and you have a highly desirable place.

I live in a tract home so who am I to judge? I rather like my tract home.

Tract homes don't bother me either, which is a good thing since I live in Rancho Santa Margarita (#3) on the list. Housing tracts are not the most aesthetic things in the world, true, but what matter a lot more to me are a clean, safe community with friendly neighbors and great amenities, and we have those things in spades.

If you are only going to be happy living in a dense, gritty urban core, or on 5 acres out in the sticks, you probably shouldn't move to OC in the first place.

Some of the best neighborhoods in Orange County I've seen are located south of the communities that hug the 91 (ex: Buena Park, Cerritos)

Yes Aliso Viejo is located NEAR Laguna Beach, but it is NOT Laguna Beach.

If tract homes and burbs in general are your thing, then that's cool. The list should be "Best tract home burbs."
