I wasnt saying "mexican" as poor, I never implied that, I just said "its a good place to live if your Mexican." I would say the same thing about Irvine if you were asian or Yorba Linda if you were white. I think that Santa Ana High being 98% hispanic implies that if your not hispanic, you wouldnt fit in (Santa Ana High had a killing of one of only 11 white students in the whole school 10 years ago). I think you people need to stop assuming what one considers wealthy and what one doesnt based on race, because when you do that, it makes you sound ignorant. And yes, OC is a very racially divided county, but that doesnt imply racism or poverty, it just means that two cultures havent acclamated to one another, and residents choose to live by those who are culturally similar to themselves.

Boy did this thread prove me wrong in another state's thread regarding racism. I was just on a Kentucky thread yesterday (planning to move there) asking how the racism was in Kentucky (since you hear a lot about that and my kids are half black). And I was just telling them about how DIVERSE California is and how there's not much racism here compared to other states because we're open minded here and here you all are on this thread saying nothing but racial comparisons when someone asked the OVERALL statistics of Santa Ana.
Wouldn't a better answer be no, don't move there - There's too much CRIME. There's too much GANGS. There's too much POVERTY. But no. The first answer is there's too much Mexicans. You guys shed a different light for me when thinking about racism now. Now I know racism isn't only against blacks (as that was my question regarding Kentucky, white on black racism)... But this thread just goes to show Californians are not only racist towards AfAms, but Hispanics, Asians, Whites and every other thing that they consider "low class" in their point of view. Now people don't go backing out of what you've said or thought. Because no matter what you say, rather than saying "too much poverty, gangs, crime" you SPECIFICALLY named a SPECIFIC race that overpopulated a certain city. Race should never even BE an issue therefore should never be brought up. I was contemplating moving to Kentucky after I heard about the racist problem but this thread just assures me that it happens in California too so I guess it doesn't matter where I am. |

california is more "class" issues than "race" issues between average folks, though there are black vs mexican gang issues in some areas and orange county has a white supremecist group that comes out at times and has been featured on local news in those "undercover" stories
the problem is that people are stupid/lazy in general. i dont think its that they hate any particular group, its just easier to point out that particular group because that is what is visible in that area, be it the high population of mexicans in santa ana, asians in irvine, or whites in south county. from living here my whole life i rarely see true racism, mostly just class issues. |

racism is believing your race is superior. desiring to live with someone of the same culture is not racism, its just self-segregation. cultural melting pot is great, and admirable, but you cannot call someone that resists that a racist just because they disagree.
i have no problem with other cultures, and i'm constantly surrounded by many. the only problem i have is with trashy people. ive had "white" neighbors that vandalized my cars, threw trash into my property, etc, and i had no desire to live by them. my house was broken into by what seems to be hispanics(who were caught on camera but never arrested, so we have no true identification of ancestory), i wouldnt want to live by those guys either. does that make me racist against "whites" and "hispanics"? |

There is a large group of people in Santa Ana that should be called Mexicans. They are those who came here illegally, have their principal allegance to Mexico, do not speak English, fly the Mexican flag, and have no interest in becoming Americans outside of working here an getting freebies. Drive the streets of Santa Ana on weekends and you'll spot them easily.
There is another group in Santa Ana who came from Mexico and want to assimilate, learn English adapt Amercian culture, and call America their new country. They should be called Americans. Mixing the two groups together and calling people racists who recognize the distinction is a gimmick that the left loves to trot out at every opportunity. |

There is a sound stage in an old bank building in midtown (Main and 9th). They were going to put music studios upstairs in that building. Do not know whether they did. there are plenty of places that you could rent for music studio. You might want to look at midtown along main because of the existing music venue and OCHSA is right there as well as St. Joesephs Ballet. It is slowly becoming a performing arts area. (Don Crib theater was right there too, but I think it closed or was sold.).

Yes...live in Santa Ana if you want your car windows broken, or your paint job scratched on a regular basis, or F*** You scratched onto the trunk of your car. I lived in Riverside, CA for years, which has a fair amount of crime and a large mexican population, but never once was my car vandalized. Ever since I moved here, my two cars have both been vandalized over and over again. I had to park one of my cars down the street on a main road, that gets patrolled by the police a lot, just to keep it from getting vandalized any further. And it happens to mexican's vehicles too, so don't think you'll be safe even if you can blend into the environment. The scum in this town don't have any respect for other people's property, and it isn't going to get any better either. So, don't fear the mexican people here, fear what some of them will, not might...but will, do to your property.

As far as a music studio goes, it might be fine, as long as it's secure so your equipment doesn't get stolen. I say this because you already stated that you don't want to live here.

The big difference between African Americans in Kentucky and Hispanics in SoCal is that
African Americans 1) show true partriotism for America and truly want to be here 2) are kind to others outside of their own race 3) SPEAK ENGLISH 4) pay taxes Hispanics in SoCal (illegal immigrants that make up a large majority of hispanic citizens) 1) refuse to pay taxes 2) do not wave the American flag 3) DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH 4) are rude to other races besides their own We wouldnt draw on racial lines if it wasnt true. Many of us are fed up with the fact that Spanish is the primary language in many cities of OC, are irritated that jobs REQUIRE you to be bilingual, are irritated that they evade taxes, are irritated that they destroy our schools because they send their kids to school without paying for their desk, and are irritated that the Mexican flag is worshiped over the American flag. And you will find that most OC residents have no problem with most immigrants, like Asians, Middle Easterners, etc. because they make good neighbors in our community. Hispanics (who want to be here) do as well. But we have been taken advantage of by one specific race so it will draw tension. I would not point our one race if it wasnt just one race causing several problems, but the sad fact is that one race is causing most of the problems (and again, not ALL hispanics are not like this nor do I clump all hispanics together, I judge individuals). |
