Hey guys.. I was just offered a condo at Harbour Pacific in Huntington Beach and was wondering if this is a nice community and good area for a family to get started in Cali. It's super close for work but I've heard mixed reviews about Huntington Beach. The condo sits right on pacific highway between 7th and 8th streets. Is this a nice side of Huntington Beach or this th big party area I keep hearing about? We are a young couple looking for some entertainment but really would rather stay clear of the college party scene. Any help would be awesome. Thanks so much in advance!

I used to live not to far from here off Bolsa Chica. It depends on your preference and tolerance for living on a very busy street. Me personally, with children I would rather be in a neighborhood where the kids can go outside and play like I did when I grew up. I know that's not for everyone sooo... This area is very busy and in the summertime it can get crowded with the tourists going to Sunset Beach. I don't know much about people who actually live in the area, I would go by one day and just talk to people about how they like it. If you have a little one I think the school for that area is Harbour View which is a good school. My little one goes to Village View, they are all pretty much good schools. Last, search on Facebook there are groups called HB4U, HB-Community-Voice and HuntingtonBeachCommUNITYVoice. Most of us live local and you would get better responses from the forum as you will get more people that actually live in that area.

Huntington Beach is just fine... Especially the Harbor area.

We live around the corner, up about 3/4 mile on Warner and love the area. It's a relatively quiet area (weekends can get a bit crowded because of the cheap beach parking on the other side of PCH.

Those condos are a bit old, not gated and have some deferred maintenance issues. Make sure the HOA has a nice reserve before you commit. It also appears that there are a lot of renters in that Condo Complex. Also make sure the condo is not on leased land.

But you are also right on the water, and right across the road from the beach.

There are a lot of good restaurants and bars within walking distance, but the Harbor is not known for being a party area. Sunset Beach (which was annexed by Huntington Beach a few years ago) has a lot of family oriented activities.

The annexation also created some confusion with numbered street names - there are streets with the same numbers in Sunset beach, and downtown Huntington Beach

Guest parking may be an issue on summer weekends.

Schools are good in the area. Harbor View would probably be then elementary school, Marina is the nearest High School, but a lot of the kids that live there also go to Huntington Beach HS. Both are good schools.

I concur with DinsdalePirahna a lot of the condos in HB are on leased land which is very expensive. I didn't realize this complex isn't gated. I know there have been complaints on the message boards about homeless people loitering but I don't remember the specific complexes.

I was looking around and if it is a gated community you are looking for you may want to check out cabo del mar. It is just up the road from Harbour Pacific. You are just a bit further from the beach but it is gated and you get a little bit more square footage for your money.
