Default Thinking about moving to Cali

Hello. I am currently in a process of change. California has become an interest point. My brother has lived in San Francisco for the past 6 years. I do love visiting, but have not been to SoCal since I was 3. I really am not that familiar with it besides what people tell me that have moved there. My cousin really wants to move to pursue a career in sports marketing (would love to work with an extreme sports co like dirtbiking, skateboarding, bmx, surfing). What area would you suggest? We are both in our early 20s and would like to be in a good area that offers new things to do and try. We are from Milwaukee and both live downtown so we are used to a city life. What would you suggest? I'm thinking about going back to school for nursing. There is a school in Rancho Bernardo that offers an accelerated program. What beachside or very close to the beach community would be best to be close enough to commute? Any suggestions or help would be great. Also, is it better to fly into SAN, LAX or the OC airport?

Rancho Bernardo is in San Diego county. If you're planning to survey all of SoCal, LAX is probably cheapest and has the most flight options but its a ZOO. Its also very far from San Diego. OC's airport (SNA) is a nice, easy airport but flights are more limited. I'd fly into San Diego is that's where you primary interest is. No sense adding a couple hundred miles to your travels.

Huntington Beach puts you in the center of all that activity really. Skate/bmx, MMA, surfing, etc. I couldn't think of any other place to get in touch with those type of people or participate in those yourself

John Wayne(SNA) or Long Beach would be the best airports to service that area. Long Beach is very quick and services jetblue

Milwaukee has nonstop service on Air Tran into LAX or San Diego Airport. Midwest Airlines has nonstop service from Milwaukee into LAX also. There are no non stop flights from MKE into John Wayne Airport in Orange County (SNA) so it will be connecting through a big hub for there. LAX will probably be cheapest so I would go with that. Throw Long Beach Airport out because jetBlue doesn't fly from your city.

Like another said, SAN is where you want to fly if you don't want to add miles to your trip. Rancho Bernardo to the beach should only take about 25 minutes, given the time and traffic on highway 56. If you want a beach city that has a lot of rentals, look into Solana Beach. I have a ton of swim team friends that live there while going to school at UCSD. Drive South on the 5 a few miles, East on the 56, and then North on the 15 till you reach school. The worst part is the 56 to 15 interchange with construction slowing and congesting it

Rancho Bernardo is very, very, nice.

Fly into LAX - it's the most cost efficient.
