Can you downsize to a smaller RV? Seems like it's going to be hard enough finding parking and then there's the gas and maintenance. We just had a neighborhood watch meeting and someone brought up RVs. Each city will have their own restrictions, so as long as you don't park in that one spot past the max parking time allowed, the police can't do anything about it.
Of course, I would avoid parking in front of someone's house for 5, 8, etc. days
. You should be able to find industrial areas where you can park without bothering people.

There's also Slab City in Imperial County -- absolutely free. I would only recommend that as a last resort though.
