This fall, I'll be going to CSU Fullerton. I'll be commuting from Rancho Cucamonga, which is about 40 min away. I don't know how many times a week I'll have to drive there, but there may be times when I'll have to kill some time in between classes.

What places are near the campus to relax, such as shopping malls, maybe bookstores, etc?

Does anyone take the Metrolink from RC to Fullerton? Is it too much of an ordeal?

There are bookstores, a mall up the street, coffee shops, and Cal State Fullerton has a brand new gym and pool that you could lounge or work out at. At the student rate, Metrolink would be around $7.50 each way. That's much cheaper that gas from RC. I would hate that commute. Try to stack your classes on 2-3 days so you only have to come then. Good luck. Go Titans!!

Thanks for your info! I went to the Metrolink site & I could either go back east to San Bernardino, then get on a 2nd train that only goes so far, then I'll have to get on a 3rd train to Fullerton OR I'd have to go west all the way to the LA Union Station, then a 2nd train down & back to Fullerton. That's not even worth it to me at all.

I'll drive my own car. I'm also looking into Cal State LA, which Metrolink has a stop right at the campus. Fortunately, my field of study is at both campuses.

Unfortunately the metrolink doesn't have enough lines that would give you a good connection to Cal State Fullerton. You should definitely go towards Cal State LA. Hopefully they will get their act together and install more track.

are you serious? RC to fullerton is an insane drive. Sitting at least 40 minutes on the road? and with gas prices nearing 4.50$ it will hurt your wallet as well. Unless your good job is in RC or you live with your parents then I would just move near CSUF.

lol yea no kidding. Good thing CSUF has a lot of classes at all times of the day so you could easily just go from one class to the next to the next. With any down time you do get you'll probably just spend it reading or doing homework. That is what I did when I was doing 12 hr days at college. Walking anywhere off campus is a hassle (unless you have a bike).

He should also look into night classes. Take two afternoon Tuesday/Thursday classes, a Tuesday night, and a Thursday night class. The drive to Fullerton in the late morning/early afternoon wouldn't be too bad and the drive home would be a breeze. The trick, of course, is getting the classes you need, when you need them. Another downside to arriving late is that you'll probably have to park out in BFE or circle for a spot, especially the first couple weeks of each semester. Better than driving in at 7-8am. CSUF Class of '96 checking in.

Thanks guys for all your info! I'm no newbie college student, but this will be the 1st time I would have had to drive this far to go to school & I know nothing about Fullerton. I've already got a Masters degree & decided to go back to school to earn a 2nd Masters. I do live w/ parents though. Fortunately, I only need 7-8 prerequisite classes there, then I plan to transfer to another university that has a completely online program, so I'm not moving to Fullerton from RC.

I know exactly what courses I need & unfortunately, they mostly offer just 1 choice of day/time.

I 1st posted in this thread because was trying to see what was nearby the campus if I needed to kill time.
