I really don't see what you are getting so worked up about. YOU are the one that asked these questions in your orginal post...

Just because people aren't giving you the answer you want to hear is no reason to get defensive. True, they could answer with some more class or tact....but if you want all of your answers to be bright and sunny "sure, whatever you want is yours!" then maybe you shouldn't post anymore. The beauty of this board is the ability to get answers from BOTH sides (the optimists and the pessimists) and make your own evaluation and decision- which you have, at length, let us all know you are capable of.

Just something to consider before you "go off" on someone else.

I DID ask a question, those responses i went off on didn't ANSWER my questions!!! Constructive criticism is one thing and blatant disrespect and belittling someone and insulting someone is different. I can tell the difference, maybe you can't! I don't mind constructive criticism and welcome it. If you had bothered reading the whole thing and my responses, you will see that some have given me "constructive criticism" and i didn't "go off" on them because i knew thats what it was. The things i was unsure about, i'm sure about now. Due to a mixture of research and the actual HELPFUL people on here! I do my research. I've educated myself more since i posted this thread and i'm going to move out there whether they want me to or not. I'm tired of repeating myself and if u don't want to take the time to read all of the posts in the thread and my responses don't bother giving me some half-as... inconsiderate response, that i've already responded to in several different ways. Open your eyes and your mind! Why are u wasting my time??

It's more like those "pessimists" are angry miserable people who have no better outlet than acting like pretentious know it alls on a message board, because there so small and insignificant in the real world. I'm not a fool and i know when someone is being condescending towards me, just to be condescending, and i have a right to defend myself. I'm not theres or your doormat. I'm not here or on this message board for some idiots power trip. Why do you care what i'm saying in defense of myself to someone who insulted me??? Why does that offend you?? Is it because your one of those people who likes to be able to condescend people and excpect them just to "take it", because you "know" about the area??? I would never talk like that to someone moving where i live. I'd be HELPFUL!!! I'm not being "too defensive" they are being TOO OFFENSIVE!

I'm not asking for advice on how to get an apartment on mars or how to grow wings and fly. Those are crazy unrealistic expectations! Mine are not! So there is no reason to say pointless crap on here to me. This whole site is supposed to be FOR people who are traveling and moving and want city advice!!! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HELP ME OR REALLY CARE ABOUT MY PLANS THEN DON'T RESPOND TO ME AT ALL. I don't want your condescending "advice" or need your condescencing "advice". Go waste someone elses time!

For the record anyone who did actually give me thoughtful, helpful answers i really do appreciate it, despite the negativity i encountered from a few people on here. I'm glad some people are here for the right reasons, thank you. This thread is obviously old and i made a new one recently that reflects my plans more accurately now. I wrote this one awhile ago, many people responded and was helpful, and i've learned a lot since then. I would close this thread if i could, but i do not know how to. I don't need anymore advice concerning my plans on this thread. Sorry for anyone who did read my angry rants to those really rude people. But I don't feel like they should be acting that way to me or anyone else on here. I have seen other people on here deal with the same things and it sucks everyone doesn't genuinely want to help each other, but i guess thats life. And if anyone did take the time to read them and you can understand why i was upset, thank u. I think i have a legitiamate reason to get defensive. I asked for some advice not for mean spirited responses. I posted it thinking it was a supportive community. Thankfully theres usually more good people than not. Happy traveling to everyone!

Sorry to see that some people have dumped on you, but I've seen it over and over on these boards. People must get off on squashing other peoples' dreams. Oh well, acknowledge and move on. I will admit that your proposition is something of a tall order, but I think you can make it happen, particularly if you are willing to have a roommate. I live in the wonderful little beach town of San Clemente, and I rent a place for $1050. Due to the housing situation rents run high everywhere, but you can probably swing it with a roomie. Heck, my place will be available at the end of the month because I have accepted a teaching job in northeastern Nevada--whoa, I'm getting ready for some culture shock, and I'm going to miss it here so much, but it's all good. Life is a journey...all about gaining life experience, as that truly is what shapes us. Get out of your comfort zone and grow. Well, that's my approach, anyway.

In the words of Joseph Campbell: "Follow your bliss." Good luck, and do your research. These boards are good, but not necessarily the final word.

At $12.00 per hour minus taxes, subtract $900. p/m rent, then subtract utilities and cost of clothing , shoes etc = starvation or having to get public assistance.

Check out Laguna Beach. It's not cheap, but maybe what you're looking for in a beach town. You could work in any neighboring city such as Irvine, etc. probably making more than $12 an hour if you have marketable skills/experience as you mentioned. Good luck!

yes well i'm aware that i can't get a place on my own for that cheap where i want. Like i said this is an old post, so i know this now. I'm going to have a couple roomates and that is not far fetched because my friend is doing just that right now.

Look i appreciate that you don't want to argue with me, and if that was really true u wouldn't of even wrote what you did. But so you know, if a person with some self-respect is treated condescendingly, they get angry. Your post was more an insult to me, then support and you know that. I asked a question that you didn't answer. If you read the all the posts u must not of read them well. You didn't offer me advice on the question at hand so u obviously didn't really care about my situation anyway. I didn't ask for character advice. I don't even know you, so why would i go to you, for advice like that? Who are you to give me any? You attacked me. I didn't say anything to you first, you put your condescending 2 cents in and i responded. I'm sure you wouldn't respond positively to that either, even if you weren't as verbal/textual about it.
