Ouch, I was about to warn you the temps are raising here, expect highs of 120 degrees thru the summer.

I really thought that La Palma was in LA county, quite sure it is. But no big deal La Palma and Riverside are only about 35 miles apart. The commute to Riverside in the morning is mild if early (I drive it at 4am and it is light).

As far as where to live, that is so personal. Look at La Mirada, Whittier, Cypress, Los Alamitos, Anaheim Hills. There are so many good choices to chose from. You really need to fly out and drive around first.

No, La Palma is in western Orange County, right next to the city of Cerritos, which is L.A. County, so it's on the border.

All those cities listed are good choices.

It might be too late to respond to you since you have probably already decided on a place to live but I live in Yorba Linda and it is an absolutely great place to live for families. Probably very boring for singles and the no kid set. In the middle of driving to Riverside and La Palma. As you can see by my user name I want to move to Charlotte NC. I would have chosen NC just because from what I have researched and visited and seen over the past two years there is a lot more opportunity and growth in the Charlotte area. I was so amazed by the area and more amazed at how many people I have met in O.C. that are moving there. The only reason why I haven't is because I can't get my DH to because he is so attached to CA and doesn't want to leave although we are struggling more and more every day to make ends meet. They talk about Newport and So. OC kids being materialistic but Yorba Linda is pretty bad. I know a lot of teenagers that are starting to drive and their first cars are BMW's. I am sure this happens in all affluent areas and the area we looked at in Charlotte was very upscale but it just had a different vibe to it than here. Good luck here in CA but I think in the long run you might decide NC would be the best place to raise a family some day.

wnt2mv2nc,
hey thanks for the response. Charlotte is awesome, Lake Norman is a great place to live on the lake and probably where I would have lived if we would have moved back...I grew up in Statesville, 45 mins north of charlotte. I have only good things to say about Charlotte, and it is growing.

I think b/c fiancee really really wants to move back to cali after being in Chicago for 7 years, missing the sun all year round, he just has to get it out of his system and move back.

But we plan on having a condo/townhouse in charlote or lake norman area for when we go back to visit my HUGE family in NC.

Let me know if you have any ?s

Oh, we have decided to live in Huntington Beach...affordable for us, and close to the beach, where I want to be. I heard a lot of good things about Yorba Linda and Have a friend who will be moving there in the summer too!!

Take care

Huntington Beach is a great beach city! My husband and I lived there when we were first married and moved to Yorba Linda when our first born was two. I have great memories of walking on the boardwalk and hanging out on Main St. Seal Beach is also a great little town as you probably know. Alot of fun restaraunts and little dive bars. We hung out more in Seal Beal and Belmont Shore than anywhere else down there. Thanks for the info on NC. I know the grass is not always greener on the other side but I sure did like NC and felt like it would be a pretty easy transition to make. I am actually kind of sad so many people are moving there now because I hope they don't build it up too much and ruin it. There is always a flip side to too much growth. Well enjoy living in sunny CA..... although today it is raining but we need it!

depending on what industry you work in your income could go up enough in southern cali that you could afford it.My wife and I considered moving but I was given a big increase to not quit. Now we are home shopping but only in Ventura and Orange counties.Los Angeles county has alot of serious problems.I have been to the banks in charlotte but did not see much else. The food is good but greasy, the people are very rude,I did not find that country charm but I may be a city boy,The traffic was terrible. If your bf is a cali native I doubt he is going to like Charlotte for long.California has a dynamic economy not really found anywhere else but NYC area.

Default La Palma

I grew up in La Palma! Lived there for 18 years - it is very safe but now very expensive and the population is mostly Asians. My parents still live there
