Any feedback on these schools -- especially De Portola? Moving with kids, both with will be in elementary but one is a soon-to-be-middle-schooler. Thank you!

My 2 nieces are in Mission Viejo High School and they and their parents seem happy with this school. They both went to Los Alisos Immediate School. According to my sister-in-law, Los Alisos went downhill between the time the older girl went there and the younger went there. (The girls are 2 grades apart.) So my sister-in-law is thinking of sending my nephew/her youngest child to La Paz Immediate School when he is ready to go there (another year and half approx.).

All of South County has very good public schools. There may be variations of good and better, but I am not aware of any South County schools people actively avoid the way they do in Central County.

Better yet, visit the Cal Dept of Education website and download excel files for comparisons and filtering.

I just wanted to add that the Mission Viejo High School seems to have an excellent music program. My oldest niece performed with the MVHS orchestra at Carnegie Hall (NYC) approx. 2 years ago and now her younger sister is supposed to perform with the MVHS choir at Carnegie Hall this coming April.
