As an East Coaster I'm shocked by this thread. I had no idea buses weren't universally provided. Granted, SoCal's year round mild weather makes walking and biking much more viable, but it still seems like misplaced priorities to me if buses and cafeterias aren't provided in schools.

Agreed.....which is why our traffic around any school...in morning and afternoons is totally horrendous..

Not to mention the problem with both parents working!
