I am relocating to Orange County this month. I will be working in Irvine near I-405 and Jamboree. I am looking at apartments in the Mission Viejo area. Does anyone know the average commute time during rush hour from Mission Viejo (say from I-5 and Crown Valley) and back?

Thanks in advance for any info.

My husband does Mission Viejo to Irvine in 20-30 minutes. His commute is a bit shorter though. He gets on the freeway at Alicica Parkway and exits at Alton in the Irvine Spectrum Area. It is only about 2 miles of freeway driving, and yes there is traffic in the morning going north building up at 7AM. Before 7, the freeway is usuall fairly free moving. Crown Valley to Jamboree would be about 25 minutes in fast moving traffic (75mph), and could go up to 40-45 minutes in really heavy traffic at rush hour. Traffic usually disperses on the 405 after the El Toro Y after the freeways split, and then builds up once you get to Sand Canyon or Jeffrey where Irvine residents start getting on the 405 north and clogging that up. Alton Rd. is an alternative running parallel to the 405 from the El Toro Y, up to Jamboree.
