I'm not saying it's perfect, has always been some police activity every once and a while, but I've never really had any real problems. And no, I don't live in Floral Park. I live in the "ghetto area" near Broadway and Edinger.

Honestly, if you're ok with living near people who aren't necessarily like you, then it's not really a problem. Sure, there are certain areas that are more dangerous than others, but if the neighborhood isn't run down then it's probably perfectly safe to live there. If you only want to live near white americans then go to South County, but be prepared to pay for it.

I'm proud to call Santa Ana my home!
i agree with you i have lived here since i was born (18 years) and my family moved here from el paso texas in the 80's, i live in wilshire square and it is amazing. im half white half mexican, i have the best of both worlds. i love the schools here. i went to Glenn L. Martin, Carr intermediate and am graduating from Santa Ana high this june.

you guys seriously need to get a clue, santa ana isn't as bad as it used to be, get the guts and check it out you'd be amazed at what you'd find out.

sure there are gangs, there is violence once in a while, but for you to say that you speed through the city because your scared, of what? honestly of what? i daresay that each one of you has had something happen here for you to feel that way.

live here then you will have every right to judge it.

don't judge it by what you read in the OC register and by all your little statistics and stuff, i honestly feel safer in santa ana than i ever have in irvine or any other south county city.

If Santa Ana's so nice, why does it have the lowest income, property value, and school scores in the county? The schools you listed score 1/10, 4/10, and 3/10 respectively. Yeah, sounds wonderful.

Most of the hispanics and illegals in Santa Ana are downright rude. They are very territorial (are bitter than SoCal was taken away from Mexico, wave their Mexican flags high and proud, and are in gangs in alarming numbers). Calling Santa Ana anything but the craphole it is would be an injustice to anyone who is considering moving there.

The city has the highest crime rate, poverty rate, lowest performing schools, lowest quality of life in the entire county.

For gods sake, 67% of KIDS ENTERING SANTA ANA SCHOOLS KNOW NO ENGLISH!!!!!! It is a second language there. Anyone considering a move there who doesn't want to
a) join a gang
b) wave a Mexican flag
c) at least look like a gang member
d) speak spanish

or isn't
a) hispanic

Should STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

Perhaps they could consider Anaheim or Garden Grove. Those cities, while not amazing, are affordable and a little better.

When did you live in Santa Ana?

You describe a small minority as "most"? Do you know most of the Hispancis who live in Santa Ana?

I know many (claiming "most" is absurd) of the HIspanics who live in my former neighborhood. Almost all of them are hard working friendly people who despise the antics that you described in your post. Your post is the equivalent of saying that "most" people who live in Irvine are racist Nazis because you drove throguh Irvine one time and discovered that they have a Nazi gang presence (they do). You cannot generalize about an entire people, or an entire city based on what you see on one television newscast and expect to maintain credibility. Try spending some time in Santa Ana and get to know people there. I will say that our neighborhood was the most freindly and welcoming to us by far out of the 9 different places that we lived. (We actually liked Old Town Orange better, but it was not as friendly). Learn before you spout.

I suppose you think Newport Beach is an amazing city? I lived there for a year, I didn't think it was that great.

Such hatred towards Hispanics it is unreal, you have real problems dude. You probably have never been to Santa Ana and it is like 2 towns over from you.

Yes there are slums that look like Mexico there, however, the downtown area is very clean, has museums like Bowers Museum (which ocexpo probably doesn't know about).
The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art

Also there are some very nice work/live condos going up that I see many young clean couples moving into.

Look at these HORRIBLE places!

I just went to these yesterday and they are beautiful, very European and very modern.

I am getting really tired of people from Newport Beach who come on here and rag on old OC (Anaheim, Orange, Fullerton, Santa Ana) and anything that has to do with Mexicans. Santa Ana is not Newport Beach.

If you hate old OC so much stay in your sterile, conservative, vacuum of richness that is Newport and leave the rest of OC alone.

It's about time we're aware that our county is very diverse. There Whites along the coast, Hispanics more inland, and Asians throughout. Hey, I grew up in Garden Grove. As ghetto as some may say it is, I feel it's still safe enough.

Just to let you know, I am an architect for an affordable housing company, and am in Santa Ana all the time.

It is literally trash. The city is a craphole. It has the highest crime rate in the city.

I hope the person who is considering this move takes my advice, because moving to Santa Ana would be THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE. If your white, I am not sure which would come first, the regret, or the burglary.

Expect a hold up instead of cookies from your neighbors.

Huntington Beach is a very hispanic city as is Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano. Anaheim Hills, Coto de Caza, Villa Park, Yorba Linda, Orange Hills, North Tustin, Irvine, Foothill Ranch are all very white communities, again inland.

And I am not bashing inland. The wealthiest places in the county, Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Villa Park, and Coto de Caza are all inland.

There is nothing wrong with hispanics. It is an issue of safety. The numbers do not lie. The school statistics do not lie. It all doesnt lie.

Compton can be seen as a good community, but how many of you would walk its streets?
