where to live in Rossmoor
After much consideration, my family has decided to return to the U.S. Having been away for more than 10 years, we are sort of out of the loop and are now scrambling to prepare for our move. I have 2 sons, one of them has autism and the other is typical. I have heard good things about Rossmoor so we've decided to move there. However, there are so many elementary schools in that vicinity. Does anyone know where we should live so that my kids can attend Rossmoor Elementary? Thanks.

my son attends rossmoor, i'm sure you'll be very happy with your decision. the school is currently in open enrollment and even when they arent you can request transfers and they generally dont care as long as its the first year in the district and as long as the school/gradelevel isnt full. say some bs reason that the babysitter lives nearby
as far as the general areas, the ones i know of are the highlands(which is on the east side of los alamitos blvd at rossmoor way and is a seperate neighborhood of newer homes), the homes that border apartment row(south of farquhar east of los alamitos blvd stopping at orangewood, newer than rossmoor by a little bit), and the general vicinity near the school(which is between rossmoor way and orangewood on shakespeare). keep in mind there are 5 someodd schools in rossmoor and weaver is a yearround school(only one in district) if you look at others schools.
anyways, those boundries look right, but rossmoor is a very convoluted array of streets and i dont know all of them.
i would contact a local realtor. they should be able to pull up housing available by school. (not to advertise)team chamberlain is a local outfit that has a lot of knowledge of the area. i dont know any other local realtors that specialize in the rossmoor area

Thank you so much for the info.
I looked on trulia and couldn't find any property listed from the list. I guess no one's selling! Well, Except for one house in Rossmoor Way that was going for 2mil which is way way above our budget!
Does it mean that if we live in Rossmoor but not in the designated areas, the school will not accept my kids?

I had a look at Jack L weaver Elementary on the web. What are your thoughts about this school? Thanks a lot.

weaver is supposed to be a very good school, but it is on a year round schedule. the middle schools are on traditional schedules, so that may be a bit of a change when the children enter 6th grade
and currently they are doing open enrollment at rossmoor elementary, so you can move anywhere in the district and apply for it and as long as the grade isnt full you're child should get in.
honestly though all of the schools are wonderful

I just bought a home in Rossmoor and have a 2 year old. It is a very family oriented upscale community with 4 great elementary schools and many preschools. We used realtors Debbie and Rob Feldman with remax in Los alamitos and they are incredible! They did not stop until they found our perfect house and know everything about the community. I highly recommend them!
