Tustin sucks. I live there right now. The west side is ghetto and the east side is dead like Irvine.
I say you rent one of those brand new apartments along Jamboree in Irvine. They look amazing. And you'll be close to The District (off of Barranca) and a new Asian shopping center off of Alton.
South Coast Metro is pretty cool. Just stay East of the Mall.
Newport is awesome if you like the beach. Just stay West of the bay because it's cheaper.
Newport - west side is older and cheaper. east side is really EXPENSIVE and new.
Irvine - west side is business oriented. east side is family oriented. so is the north. try to stay south.
Costa Mesa - try to stay close to the Newport and Irvine borders.
You'll probably love downtown Huntington Beach, but it's way too far to drive to work.

Old town Orange (near the traffic circle) is a pretty cool little area.

Have you seen the price of gas recently? Find a place that is close to your work.

If you are single, then Newport Beach has a lot of single young professionals living in apartments. The best and most cost effective (for all the amenities you get) apartment complex is Park Newport Apts located off of Jamboree and San Joaquin Hills (and very close to JWA). It has its own dry cleaner, hair salon, market, pool, jacuzzi, fitness center. They also offer several fitness classes including yoga. The best of all, they have their own social chair type person at the club house that puts together many events each month (breakfast, lunches, movies, parties, etc.)
There are many single young people that live there and if you want to meet them, you can work out at the complex, lay by the pool, go to the parties.

Franklin Tennessee is really nice.
Galena Iowa is a pleasant and quaint town.
I really like Charleston South Carolina.
You should live in one of those places. (Find another job).

Balboa Villiage is really nice and has a lot of young people. It is expensive but you can find some bargains. Lots of UCI students live there so it must not be too bad to commute to Irvine.

I recommend the Village at Irvine Spectrum, link is here:
The Village at Irvine Spectrum Center – Luxury Irvine, CA Apartments
The place is beautiful and it's right across the street from the "Irvine Spectrum" where they have tons of shops, restaurants, movie theatres, pretty much anything you want.
Plus it's an Irvine Company apartment and attention to detail and service there is top notch. It's in a business district but close to shops/eateries, etc. Sounds like what you are looking for.
I've lived in Irvine about 5 years, if you have any other questions let me know.

Newport Beach is a great place to live and there are lots of places to go out and meet people, but the rents can be a bit pricey.
If you'd like to live near the beach, you should definitely check out Huntington Beach. The rents tend to be lower than Newport Beach and there are lots of places near the pier in Huntington to go out and meet people.

I have good friends living in those apts and visiting them a lot I can tell that they are not as luxurious as they say. Yes, they are new or newly remodelled, nice looking, but the rent is waaay to high. JMHO.

clubhouse
Hello,
I would love to host a baby shower for my sister who is surprisingly expecting (due to medical condition) at either Mirador or Cambria clubhouse. I want to give her a beautiful baby shower at the village, it is the perfect place. I love the village and been there for meetings. Unfortunately, I don’t live there. I spoke with the event manager and she said I would have to befriend someone to host the baby shower there. So if you don't mind, please befriend me so I can give my sister a nice baby shower at the village clubhouse. My email address is clbarnes1@hotmail.com.
Thank you,
Chanté Barnes
