I'd say that's most Americans, too--not just Californians. In fact, anywhere there's money and the possibility to have a better life, money factors into what people like/want.

I like money--I want money... not so much I don't have to work for anything anymore, but enough no to have to work just to scrape by. California is an expensive place to live... so we like money so we can afford to live here.

And I'm talking rent/mortgage not LV and Gucci--I don't own any. Maybe I'll treat myself to one when I finally decide to work harder.
