Hi guys... I'm a single young women in the pharma industry. I have an excellent job offer in OC to negotiate pharma contracts for a huge company out there. The job is located in Cypress, CA. I would have to relocate to Orange County. I have a house here that I am willing to sell for warm weather, beach, etc. etc. I prefer to rent in OC for now. Any suggestions on the areas I could rent in? I am Asian Indian and would like to live in North West of Cypress. I want a safe, clean neighborhood that is not super expensive. If it is inland it is fine! I do not have any kids so I am not worried about schools, at this point! Any info. you can provide would be great! Thanks!

Well Artesia and Cerritos are northwest of Cypress and have lots of Indian people and businesses. "Super expensive" is in the eye of the beholder. What's your rental budget?

I think you'll be happiest in La Palma, it's near Cypress and a cleaner and safer city. Be prepared to pay big time for rent anywhere out here though.

I lived in Cypress. It's close to a lot of total JUNK areas. I also lived in Buena Park. Cypress is half okay, but in all honesty I wouldn't live in Northern OC ever again, it's just too nasty for my personal taste. It feels like a degenerating sprawl.

Everything is personal preference, who knows you may love it.

artesia and cerritos may be good for you if you're looking for similar culture.

artesia has a large indian presence and cerritos has a heavy asian presence(korean seems to be the main culture). they are northwest of cypress. to the south/southeast you have garden grove and westminster have a more vietnamese tinge.

apartmentwise, the best bet for some single bedroom safe housing thats decent in cost will be near cypress college(which is on valley view and lincoln). la palma will also have some options.

los alamitos apartment row area will give you an area that is walkable to shopping(grocery and some other stuff), restaurants, and some entertainment(blockbuster, numerous parks). rent there will be anywhere from 1000 to 1600(most apts are 2bedroom running around 1400-1500.. lots of open ones right now so it may be a good time to bargain. about half are run by local prop management and the other half are privately owned)
